Xochitlquetzal by Lilia Ramirez 🌻

Highlighting artists in our ecosystem who illustrate revolutionary visions contributing to paradigm-shifting movements that transcend boundaries and honor our ancestral ways.

Liliflor is an artist, muralist, cultural art educator, using art as a tool for healing and transformation. She’s an “artivist hybrid visionary” that has been at the forefront serving the community since 1994. Currently her studio is housed at Kalli Luna Gallery, Art & Cultural Space in Boyle Heights, CA. Liliflor’s curated projects include: Sounds of Solidarity L.A. and Diosa Magic, a collective creation of artisans offering interactive cultural art workshops. She’s been featured in various book covers, magazine publications, and exhibited in musuems.

Liliflor’s strength lies in her bold approach in integrating Nahuatl cosmology aesthetics in her work. She brings knowledge of her Indigenous roots to bear fruit in her art and integrative art healing workshops. Her workshops weave various subjects such as cultural traditions, visual storytelling, urban environments juxtaposed with Indigenous cosmology and Los Angeles urban subcultures. Aesthetically, Liliflor’s work reproduces familiar visual symbols and iconography, which enables her to create a composition of multilayered visuals for storytelling, documentation, and healing.

La Cultura Cura 🐍

Gracias, creator, for guiding me. Still processing all of the incredible blessings that have unfolded before me. Affirmations me rodean. It’s unreal - divinely orchestrated. Returning home to myself. My purpose. My sacredness.

To have the wisdom I have had to escarbar from the trenches of my own shadows, echoed back by the teachings of the elders around me was the answered prayer I always longed for.

Now, more than ever, we need to honor the gifts we each carry and answer the call to share them as offerings as they are desperately needed. We all hold an interconnected responsibility. The revolution starts within.

A Compass Towards Holistic Wellness

Wellness Workshop
Sunday, June 22, 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Earthy Corazon
4015 City Terrace Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90063

By immersing ourselves in the wisdom of the medicine wheel, we are invited to engage in reflection, guiding us to uncover our needs and learn how we can tend to the different aspects of our being. This encourages balance and harmony in mind, body, heart, and spirit. Through honoring this interconnectedness, we cultivate a deeper connection not only with ourselves, but also with the elements of creation. The goal is to walk away with tangible practices we can integrate into our own lives and a renewed sense of commitment to our wellbeing.

Somos de maíz - of the earth, the sun and the cosmos. A living reflection of our deep and inherent connection to the land.

More than sustenance; it is our lineage, our memory, and our resistance. It nourishes not only our bodies, but our hearts and spirits.

A reminder that we come from a sacred seed - cultivated in community, and carried forward through generations, despite colonization and displacement.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Black people were finally informed that they were free. This came two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed - revealing that freedom was delayed and deliberately denied. A reminder that freedom has never been freely granted; it has always been demanded and fiercely fought for.

Today is a day of celebration, remembrance, and resistance. Yet the harsh reality remains: slavery didn’t end - it evolved. It took new forms through mass incarceration and immigrant detention. The prison industrial complex is modern-day slavery. Though the chains may look different, systems of oppression persist.

Our histories are deeply intertwined. While the past holds painful truths, it also carries stories of shared rebellion, survival, and resilience. Our struggles have long intersected and so has our solidarity. We uplift our Black and Afro-Indigenous relatives and remain dedicated to the ongoing fight for sovereignty and self-determination.

Colectivo Cihuateotl stands firmly in our commitment to communal healing and shared liberation. We honor the courage, strength and leadership of those who came before us who have paved the way. We carry forward a revolutionary legacy and uphold a collective vision for justice.
Liberation is collective. No one is free until all are free. 🪶✊🏽

The criminalization, erasure and displacement of Indigenous people from their own ancestral homelands is not an isolated injustice - it is colonial continuity.

The legacy of settler colonialism persists. Upheld by arbitrary borders drawn across stolen land, enforced by ICE and sustained through ongoing state sanctioned harm.

We are native. We are Indigenous. We have always been here. We belong here.

While others arrive seeking refuge - forced to flee violence rooted in centuries of colonial extraction and U.S. imperialism, only to face racialized immigration enforcement and carceral control. A direct violation of our dignity, our humanity, and our inherent rights.

This violence deeply impacts the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of our community.

In the face of this harm, we turn toward community care, protection and healing. Through the work of Colectivo Cihuateotl, we support community members in returning to their sacredness and reconnecting with the medicine that lives within them.

Honoring Indigenous wisdom through cultural arts and wellness, we gather to remember that we are whole, worthy and deserving of freedom.

They fear our knowledge, our power and our collective movement.

The fight for self-determination, sovereignty and liberation continues.

You are a sacred vessel. Inherently worthy and whole. Ancestral medicine flows through you.

A deep remembrance. Not a privilege nor a commodity Not something that is earned or accessible only to a few. It is your birthright. Your inheritance.

A reconnection to what is rightfully yours. This wisdom belongs to all of us.

You are not separate from the medicine. You are the medicine. And no one can take that from you.

You are sovereign.
