Emotional Sobriety back-2-back...

"I have discovered something more important to me than happiness: self-respect.

Even on a bad day, a day when I am far from being my own biggest fan, my integrity can remain intact. That is the ultimate measure of myself, at the end of a day, and ultimately at the end of my life.

It's not about what happens to me; it is always about how I respond. It's not about how I am treated; it's about what I choose to do with whatever that is. - Thom Rutledge

"A newcomer walks into an AA meeting somewhere in America..."

It sounds like the start of a good joke. But think about this when you read the March Blog about Atheists in the Closet in 12-step meetings.
https://bit.ly/RebellionDogsMarchBlog

According to a recent poll, American worldviews are changing. Maybe it's just about knowing how to ask questions to get accurate answers. But Gallup has asked a question that in so many ways asks who believes in a 12-Step prayer-answering, life-changing God?

It turns out, less than 1/2 of Americans believe in such a Guy in the Sky. So do only the 42% who do believe in such a thing stay in AA or are most of us going along to get along? And if most AA's don't really take that Bill Wilson idea seriously or literally, why we keep talking about as if that's how we are all getting sober?

Kate Cohen's book WE OF LITTLE FAITH: Why I Stopped Pretending to Believe (And Maybe You Should Too) talks about "going from lying to telling the truth, pretending to not pretending."

Atheists in the closet! Come out, come out, wherever you are. This blog, part 1, looks at some science and some good books, and we hope others will weigh in. It's quite a wake-up call. Scroll below and look at this poll.
