Not too long ago. I was given the honor to share my story and my journey to becoming an RN. My story was shared in a beautiful book called Latinas in Nursing. Being that it is Women’s history month, I am reminded on how proud I am to be a woman, but more proud to be a Latina woman. If you get a chance, pick up the book! Available on Amazon. So many incredible stories to read!

Thank you .a for sharing your journey with us 🩷

I was born in Ecuador but raised in Orlando, Florida. I grew up dancing but always knew I wanted to help people for a living. I decided on nursing because of how “tough” and “rewarding” people told me it was. As the first nurse in my whole family (both in the states and my country), I can completely agree it has been both tough and rewarding. There have been so many times I didn’t think I could do it or that I’d end up where I envisioned for myself. I am now a Pediatric Emergency Room Nurse at a level one trauma center, a certified pediatric trauma nurse, and was recently awarded A Nursing Excellence Award. All this to say, God has big plans for all of us and I’m so grateful that I am walking in mine. He has shown up and shown out throughout my career. I go into every shift praying that He helps me be a light to my patients and my coworkers.

Let’s hear it for

Below she shares her journey to

I’ve been a nurse a little over 7 years and I’ve been working in the ICU for the last 5.

When people say there is no limit to what one can do, you better believe it.

From moving to the US from the Dominican Republic a year before my HS graduation, not speaking any English, working full time throughout nursing school, working so hard while obtaining my advanced degree during a pandemic as I work in some of the busiest ICUs in NJ, while keeping a 4.0.. yeah better believe God has no limits.

I am thankful to be here today, express to others that the possibilities are endless. Keep shining!

About Latina, RN.

Welcome home! This is your community!

I am so happy you're here! Latina, RN was created to inspire and encourage more Latinas into the healthcare field. Many of us are first generation college students and we should take pride in the hard work we’ve put in to get where we are! Latina, RN was always more than a shirt, it has always been a movement. In fact, we are quickly growing to encompass Latinos and everyone in the Latinx community. I hope you feel inspired by what you find in this community. I hope you make connections with fellow RNs. I hope you wear this merch proudly because YOU did it.

Con amor, Martha Salmon BSN, RN CPN. - Founder
