As something that we do naturally each night and have been doing for our entire lives, it can be easy to take sleep for granted. There’s a lot more to sleep than feeling tired or not.
When we deprive ourselves of even a little bit of sleep, we are also depriving ourselves of a little bit of health
⚡️⚡️⚡️
There is so much going on “behind the scenes” while we are sleeping, and these processes are not able to take place without proper quality and quantity of sleep
⚡️⚡️⚡️
With just one night of inadequate deep sleep, we negatively impact our ability to function in the world, for example…
❕We compromise our immune system
❕Become more likely to make bad decisions
❕We increase our appetite and cravings
❕Decrease our ability to regulate blood sugar
❕Allow for a buildup of waste in our brain
❕Increase feelings of loneliness & isolation
❕Negatively effect the balance of our gut microbiome 
❕We increase our likelihood of getting in a car accident
& much more

Prioritize getting to bed early and getting 8 hours of deep sleep each night, your body and mind depend on it

We’ve been taking cold showers, almost exclusively, for several years now & love it.
⚡️⚡️⚡️
It certainly wasn’t an easy practice to get started, but over time we have both built up the capacity to not only withstand the cold, but to enjoy it!
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Humans are meant to be exposed to the elements, and the more we push our edges, the better off we will be
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Besides training your body to better handle and respond to stress, cold exposure also has a number of benefits for your overall health & wellness
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Among other things, cold showers help to improve mental health & mood, support overall immune function, increase mitochondrial density, and they even help you to burn more body fat
⚡️⚡️⚡️
If you are new to cold showers but would like to give them a try, we suggest starting slow.
❄️Begin w/ :30 seconds at the end of each shower.
❄️Once you can handle that, try going back and forth between warm & cold for several :30 rounds.
❄️The next step is to try longer and longer stints of cold water.
❄️Finally, build yourself up to taking your entire shower w/ only cold water

This might sound crazy, but after a few weeks of cold showers, we don’t think you will ever go back

Unfortunately, due to extreme weather, challenging/dangerous surfaces & societal rules (no shirt, no shoes, no service 🤷) barefoot isn’t always an option
⚡️⚡️⚡️
When being barefoot isn’t possible, the next best option is to wear the most minimal footwear we can

Proper health relies on good quality sleep.
Good quality sleep is governed by our circadian rhythm.
Our circadian rhythm is heavily influenced by our environment.
⚡️⚡️⚡️
When the morning sun first reaches our eyes it triggers our body to begin producing melatonin.
This is a 12 hour process which culminates with a feeling of sleepiness in the evening
⚡️⚡️⚡️
If you have a difficult time falling asleep, or do not feel sleepy in the evenings the solution might be as simple as getting outside in the morning and watching the sunrise

Focusing solely on total calories is not a useful tool for determining which foods we should choose to consume
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Choosing between 100 calories of grass fed/finished ribeye & 100 calories of Cheerios is much different.
There’s life in that meat! There’s vitamins, minerals, nutrients…etc. that are naturally occurring from the living source it came from - a Cow 🐮
Cereal is highly processed & modified. It’s made in factories that have to put vitamins back into it because the process it takes to to achieve its shape and taste, removes all of its nutritional value.
This is the definition of “empty calories”

When it comes to your health, food quality & nutrient density are what matters most!

Meditation is a huge part of our lives
⚡️⚡️⚡️
It wasn’t easy at first when we began meditating, but little by little the monkey brain we were both experiencing began to lessen
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Now more than ever, in a world of instant everything & nonstop stimulation, it is necessary to take a step back and allow our mind to calm down
⚡️⚡️⚡️
This daily practice of clearing our mind, setting intentions for the day and reminding ourselves that we are not at whim of every thought that enters our mind
⚡️⚡️⚡️
We understand meditation can seem intimidating if you have never done it before,
but we promise it does not have to be.
You literally cannot do it wrong!
⚡️⚡️⚡️
All you need to do is take a little time to just Be...
Sit & Breathe
You don’t need to accomplish anything, 
it doesn’t need to look or feel a certain way
⚡️⚡️⚡️
As thoughts come...
Let them come.
Then let them go
It’s important to not attach yourself to these thoughts, that gives them power to keep returning.
Simply allow the thought to come into your mind and release
⚡️⚡️⚡️
As you get more and more comfortable in your practice you will begin to recognize that you are not your thoughts...
You are simply the observer or your thoughts.
And that is an important realization!
You are far more powerful than you realize
