Honoring the annual Ìṣẹ̀ṣé day celebration and public holiday across Nigeria. A day to honor ancestral legacies, connect with roots, and celebrate indigenous traditions.

Connecting to my ancestral practices, unlearning colonized ways of thinking, and embracing my African identity has been an incredibly healing experience. Remembering this identity has led me to change my focus in many ways. I am still rebirthing what Beauty Divine Artistry is becoming in order to remain authentic to who I am becoming on this journey.

“In this season we experience longer nights. This can enhance our awareness of the dark places within us. Revealing inner darkness living in our subconscious mind including memories of unhealed parts of ourselves. It’s important to lean into what’s being revealed and explore what is being taught.
One way to work through this is to feel the emotions that come up and cry if necessary. Then transmute the experience by sending yourself love and light. Finally extract the wisdom and lessons from the experience in order to transcend it, heal, and evolve. In doing so, we rewire our neurological pathways so we no longer attract more of the unhealed parts of ourselves.”

EFT is based on the premise that negative emotions and pain are caused by disturbances in our body’s energy system. The energy centers are defined as meridian points. When we experience
sadness, guilt, shame, or pain there is a disturbance in one of the 14 meridian points.

Using positive affirmations while tapping the meridian points and focusing on treating the “root cause” of the problem instead of the effects of the problem leads to long-term results. The practice of EFT gradually decreases unwanted emotions, physical ailments, and pain.

Every new year I revisit these principles and reflect on how I’ve applied them to my life. I clearly see my patterns and what I need to work on, but it is a constant work in progress. Sometimes I’m high and sometimes I’m low. It’s an incredibly humbling experience. But I remind myself that I am a soul experiencing this lifetime and the lessons that it brings. Knowing this always brings me comfort.

I hope this message brings you comfort and serves as a reminder as you go forth in this new year. As you honor what today means to you, be gentle with yourself, and take time to really reflect on your resolutions for the New Year.
