Take up S P A C E 〰

A resounding theme that I have noticed with several of my clients lately is the discomfort of taking up space.

Why is that?

Oftentimes we are taught and conditioned to not take up space, to keep quiet, to not cause conflict, to suppress our feelings, to not “show off,” to not go against the grain, to keep the peace, and to “behave.”

Give yourself permission to speak up, to get angry, to confront, to be heard, to speak your truth, to announce your accomplishments, to be in alignment with yourself, to make your own choices, to be unapologetic, and to not feel ashamed for being you!

You get to decide how to be you. You do not have to dim your light so that others can shine. It may be uncomfortable at first if you are not used to it.

I invite you to practice taking up space this week, whether that be emotional or physical space. It can even be sharing more on your personal platform. Try it and see how it feels. ✨

Believe you can do it ✨ When I started my private practice right when the pandemic hit, I did not think I would be able to get ANY clients. This thought was false! We can’t predict the future and fortune-tell! I had doubt creep in for many reasons — we were in a pandemic, I was a new private practice therapist, the business side of therapy was intimidating, and I didn’t think I would have the time to balance it all. I was working a full-time job, running my ceramics business on weekends, I didn’t want to neglect my pug or my relationship, and also wanted to have time for my own exercise and rest. It sounded like a lot! And it is, but I got my groove quickly. It’s a adjustment period, which is normal! My caseload of clients began to fill up gradually and then quickly. I needed more time to myself. I decided to go down to 4 days a week at my day job and it has still been the best decision for myself yet! I don’t get burnt out from my day job and I can support my clients in the evenings.

I never thought I would have a full caseload, support so many clients that are in alignment with my practice and skillset, and balance all of the other areas in my life at the same time, but here I am. I never thought I would be able to network and connect with so many likeminded therapists in the community, do several speaking events, increase my rate, see clients in an actual office setting, but hey, here I am!

It all started with a desire that was planted in the back of my mind. After seeing other therapists do it, I thought that maybe I could do it too.

So plant that seed and let it grow. Make space for what you want to accomplish. Buy the tools you need, invest in yourself, find a mentor, and put yourself out there.

A reminder to be kind to yourself — What do you see when you look in the mirror? 🪞

Sometimes we can be our harshest critics. Why is that? How would you respond to a friend going through a similar situation as you?

Hi there! It’s me, Christine! Just reminding you all that I am here!

I have a couple open spots available for new clients and am excited to say that I am basically fully booked! I started my private practice during the start of the pandemic last year and I am humbled by its organic growth. My private practice has grown so much that I’ve become too busy to keep up with my IG account! I want to thank all of the connections that I’ve made here online and everyone for spreading the word about my therapy services.

As always, you can self-schedule a free phone consultation with me through my website.

Ps: here is the latest photo of Subi and me
