UCLA Pediatrics is seeking infants born to a mother with gestational diabetes or to a mother without gestational diabetes for a MRI.

WHO QUALIFIES?
Infants between 1week-6 months of age born to a mother with or without gestational diabetes (type of diabetes that can develop in pregnant women). Mothers without gestational diabetes are eligible if they had a pre-pregnancy BMI=25 (kg/m2). Our team can help calculate your BMI.

BENEFITS?
Better understanding of how free-breathing MRI technology scan be used to quantify body composition and liver disease in infants.

RISKS?
MRI is noisy; headphones and earplugs will be provided.

WHAT DOES THE STUDY ENTAIL?
Free, one-time MRI of the infant that takes approximately 90 minutes. There will also be a brief survey and body measurements performed by the study team. If there are incidental findings on the MRI scans, the study team will provide the information to you and your child’s physician.
