i wasn’t feelin’ today. sleeping in as long as possible to avoid the day…
parenting my youngest daily with dana. calmly, emotionally, laboring with my reality of parenting my sons from afar.
“mama” for as long as they’ll let me…

every day i fight, rebel, protect, the ones who want this path and those that do not. that they feel comfortable, safe, heard, respected, cared for.

today i was cared for. poured into. i laughed, cried and gave thanks i’m still here to be somebody’s mama.

this gorgeous little placenta did a fantastic job supporting / growing a tiny human.

peeking through their exit from the veil makes my heart smile.

a blessing to be called to a homebirth with my midwife friend and a today!

moving too fast i cut my nails on my left hand short encase of a vaginal exam…and ya girl is right handed.

reason 5,832,790 it’s good to be able to accurately assess a cervix with either hand.

(rarely 😂)

at 41 weeks pregnant we attended my last homebirth client for the year. 🤦🏾‍♀️

at 41.3 weeks pregnant i took a sledgehammer, picked out remnant tile, trowel and remodeled my bathroom.

42weeks pregnant you decided to be born five hours after our entire family had left and could no longer await your arrival.

✨🦂✨

2.5 hours of labor, i *almost* ripped the faucet from my bathroom wall.

born or as my family says “with the veil”... ✨🖤✨

you came out screaming at me about how many births i had brought you to, and said it was why you made me wait.

your brother woke and met you less than an hour after your birth with "nice baby brudder". 🖤 .

happy sixteenth birth day Sun, i wish i could be there with you. your mama’s old school so i mailed you your birthday gift.

it’s not every day the family comes together with an offering to the birth community. ✨🤲🏾✨ my last before returning home to Richmond, Va

Racha Tahani Lawler Queen and Sydney Lawler have partnered up to offer a 7 hour non-medical birth workers training. This will be a very intimate 6-person training led and instructed by Racha Tahani Lawler Queen ( ) and facilitated by myself, Sydney Lawler. Upon completion of the training, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.

Racha will offer comprehensive education on child birth, postpartum care, and birth work as a business.

You should expect to be educated on physiologic birth in the home birth, birth center, and hospital settings with a particular traditional midwifery lens. We will discuss postpartum care and the different moving parts on how to support clients. As birth workers we cannot provide the best care without first pouring into ourselves and business. So, Racha will be providing key knowledge on how to sustain yourself to then out pour into birthing people and their families.

We will provide meal preparation demos that includes lunch for all participants. Demonstrations on how to physically assist clients while in labor, wrapping clients during postpartum care, and using fabric to wrap babies to their parents/caregivers.

Additionally, there will be a special time set aside to do Q&A with Racha, as she has 20 years of experience in midwifery. We will also provide a space for one or two people to speak about their postpartum experiences, and hope to have a pregnant person in attendance to get first-hand insight into what the community is needing.

You will leave with a self-care kit that includes a grounding oil and affirmation cards.

Please bring with you an open, kind and loving mind and heart, as well as 6-yards of fabric.

a multi textile piece that hopefully touches and some of us who are both.
this work is an honoring to the Ancestors thrown into the sea.
who found their peace resting
in the deep.

standing in front of it, i felt all of them. this was extra special to get out of my body. my hands specifically.
