you see a happy and courageous man driving with his own Adele concert somewhere on the USA road, but we see a heartbroken man, driving alone, in solitude, finding his place... And both are perspectives... One can be wrong, both can be wrong and both can't be true at the same time.

UN report (2023) shows that 40+% of Indian senior citizens were poorest, & 1 in 5 (18.7%) had no income and no government pension at all. Indian govt suspended new old age pension registration post 2014 election in Delhi, India.

A big chunk of the aged population in India is going unclothed and unfed. Different pieces of research show that more than 40% of the elderly are in the least affluent bracket while the percentage of those who have absolutely no source of income is almost reaching 19; hence, the senior people's financial hardship and loneliness have become a sad reality.

Old women, who are generally widowed, live alone and lack assets, have been especially affected by urbanization, migration of the youth and the paucity of social security. These days, most of the elderly that have kids try to get support from their children while some get insufficient assistance from the government.

This is an indicator of the rapid increase of the issue of old people's financial insecurity and social isolation, mainly in the countryside.

Key Statistics & Realities:

High Poverty: A United Nations report (2023) indicated that more than 40% of Indian elderly were in the lowest wealth quintile, and about 1 in 5 (18.7%) had no income at all.

Lack of Income: According to a study conducted by HelpAge India, only 15% of elderly people had a stable source of income, and the majority were dependent on their children for support (about 29%) and the government.

Gender Disparity: As a result of gender biases, older women are affected more than men. Generally, they are widows, live on their own and most of them do not have any source of income or assets.

Pensions Inadequate: Only a few corporates' (around 22%) employees who are retired can receive a pension, and a lot of pension schemes such as IGNOAPS, have quite low monthly amounts which cannot fulfill the needs of the elderly.

๐ŸŒ A Cry for Help on World Mental Health Day ๐ŸŒ As the world faces a cascade of crises, from the tragic loss of lives in Gaza to human rights violations, we find ourselves at a crossroads. The growing instances of suicides, cheating, divorce, child abuse, and injustices like innocent people being jailed in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, USA, EU, UK, and atrocities happening globally, can no longer be ignored.

๐Ÿ™ The world has witnessed the burning of parliaments and politicians houses in 4 different countries, and forced immigration agendas, such as those pushed by the United Nations, have sparked massive turmoil in communities across the globe. And yet, despite all of this pain, one thing stands clear: WE NEED EACH OTHER MORE THAN EVER.

๐Ÿ’” In times of such crises, itโ€™s easy to get lost in the noise, to feel like we donโ€™t have a role to play. But every life matters, and every action counts. We cannot afford to ignore the mental and emotional toll these global injustices are taking on individuals and families.

So, where do we stand in all of this?
๐Ÿค We stand with humanity.

The solution?
Unity, Empathy, and Collective Action.

๐Ÿ“ข 1. Stand for Human Rights: Speak up for those whose voices are silenced.
๐Ÿ“ข 2. Promote Peace & Understanding: In times of division, we must be the bridge that connects.
๐Ÿ“ข 3. Mental Health Matters: Address the root causes of anxiety, stress, and depression by providing support to those who need it most.

The world is broken, but together, we can begin the process of healing. We must fight for peace, justice, and mental well-being, for all. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโค๏ธ
