Overcoming Low Back Strain: Mia’s Journey
Mia was a 34-year-old graphic designer who loved her job but spent long hours hunched over her desk. One morning, she woke up with sharp pain in her lower back after lifting a heavy box the day before. Over-the-counter painkillers and rest helped initially, but the pain persisted, making her daily routine unbearable.
Mia sought help at Advanced Balance Physical Therapy, where she met Dr. Gerard Donayre, an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Therapeutic Persistent Pain Specialist. After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Donayre explained that her pain stemmed from a low back strain caused by improper lifting and poor posture.
Dr. Donayre started her on a Deep Laser Therapy program, which reduced inflammation and stimulated tissue healing. Alongside the treatments, he introduced her to the Health and Wellness Plan:
1. Daily Movement: Dr. Donayre showed her gentle stretching and core-strengthening exercises, like bridges and cat-cow stretches, to improve stability and reduce stress on her lower back.
2. Hydration: Mia started tracking her water intake, ensuring she stayed hydrated to support tissue repair.
3. Nutrition: She added anti-inflammatory foods like spinach, salmon, and berries to her meals.
4. Rest & Sleep: Mia prioritized 8 hours of quality sleep, supporting her body’s natural healing processes.
5. Stress Reduction: Using deep breathing exercises recommended by Dr. Donayre, shemanaged work-related stress.
After six weeks of consistent Deep Laser Therapy and following the plan, Mia’s pain reduced significantly, and she regained her ability to work comfortably. She also adopted better posture at her desk and continued her exercises, ensuring long-term back health.
