Gratitude in action 🧡 This Thanksgiving, our team and volunteers came together for our annual holiday giveaway—serving over 400 people with turkeys, side dishes, and our regular groceries.

In a season when many in our community are experiencing real difficulties, we were grateful for the chance to show up with support, compassion, and care for our South LA families.

A huge thank-you to our incredible community partners whose dedication and generosity made this day possible. Because of you, our impact continues to grow, strengthening the well-being of our neighbors and creating meaningful change

Next Wednesday, UMMA Health is hosting our Thanksgiving Food Fair, and our team came together (literally!) to pass hope from one person to the next.
This year has not been easy for South LA families — from reduced SNAP benefits to rising food costs — but when our community shows up for one another, anything is possible.

Next Wednesday, we’ll be:
✨ Distributing 400+ turkeys
✨ Hosting 14 partner organizations offering vital resources
✨ Continuing our weekly produce distribution
✨ Sharing warmth, dignity, and care with every family who comes through

Our staff showed up with heart in this reel — and we can’t wait to show up for our community just as powerfully next week.

Thousands of families in South Los Angeles are facing a new crisis — the SNAP Gap. 🥕

With SNAP benefits paused, households that already struggle to afford groceries are losing the little support they had to put food on the table. The impact is immediate and devastating.

In South LA, where fresh produce is scarce and healthy food is often out of reach, families are now forced to choose between paying rent or buying groceries. Nearly 1 in 4 households in LA County faces food insecurity — and for low-income families, that number jumps to 41%.

This is where UMMA Health steps in. Every Wednesday, our Food Security Initiative distributes fresh fruits and vegetables — never expired, never shelf-stable — to thousands of families across South Los Angeles.

In the past year alone, we’ve delivered over 500,000 pounds of produce to 8,000 families, offering nourishment, dignity, and hope — one bag at a time.

But as the SNAP Gap widens, the lines are growing longer.
