Happy National Registered Dietitian Day! I’m coming up on my 10-year anniversary of being an RD (!) and spent today reflecting on the ride so far. I’m so grateful for all the experiences, opportunities, lessons, mentors, patients, clients, and friends I’ve had & made along the way. Excited to continue growing, learning, and evolving in my career💚

And friendly reminder that RDs are rigorously trained in nutrition science, that nutrition is very much a SCIENCE not an opinion, and that you deserve to get your information from someone who’s actually trained to w**d out BS & provide accurate information - not from influencers who simply have an interest in food/nutrition. I mean hey, I’m interested in how planes work and have lots of experience traveling but that doesn’t make me qualified to fly one😉

There are no words to describe the devastation the fires have caused this week. Until this summer, I called LA was home for almost 10 years. It’s an incredible city with incredible people and my heart is heavy witnessing the widespread impact the fires have had on countless people and animals.

I put together this resource hoping it can help you if you’ve been impacted or exposed to the smoke on any way.

Please save and share if you find this helpful or know of others who it may help.

Diet culture is especially loud this time of year.

The categorizing of good/bad/healthy/unhealthy foods came up quite a bit with my clients today, so I wanted to share some tips you can use if you find yourself or hear someone else label food in this way.

Hey!👋🏼 I’ve got a couple questions for ya🤗

Do you honor your hunger when it comes up or do you question it?

Do you know what hunger feels like or do you feel disconnected from your body and cues?

Do you only eat when you feel hungry and end up skipping meals because you don’t get hungry often?

Do you feel guilty about eating something even when you don’t feel hungry?

These are all common challenges I help clients work through when helping equestrians learn how to use food to improve performance and create a more positive relationship with food.

Because the wellness industry glamorizes restriction and because of all the conflicting nutrition information out there, eating what sounds satisfying when you feel hungry tends to be easier said than done.

In fact, there are 4 different kids of hunger that are important to recognize and honor, which I talk about in this post ⬆️

So while you may think you need to eat within a certain eating window, practice intermittent fasting, or stop eating at a certain time - all of these things can actually further disconnect you from your cues making it difficult for your body to get why it needs.

When I work with clients on improving their relationships with food, building awareness and teaching them to honor each type of hunger instead of questioning or ignoring it is KEY to creating a long-lasting healthy relationship with food🫶🏻

If this is something you struggle with and would like some support, head to my website to apply for 1:1 nutrition and intuitive eating coaching🤗 I have 3 January openings so if you’re interested don’t wait to apply!
