For Men’s Health Month, we're spotlighting Belmont Village Senior Living Fort Lauderdale resident, Eugene, a distinguished cardiologist who dedicated over 50 years to advancing heart care in Broward County. As Chief of Staff at Florida Medical Center, he played a key role in introducing open-heart surgery to the region, transforming cardiac care for countless patients who previously had to travel far for life-saving procedures. Eugene has mentored generations of medical students, publishing 13 research papers and earning a reputation for his exceptional bedside teaching. He even treated the legendary, Jackie Gleason!

Eugene's Tips for Men's Health Month 💪:

For Intergenerational Day, we’re spotlighting our unique partnership between our Belmont Village Senior Living Los Gatos community and the Union School District to interweave education and senior living and offer intergenerational programming for aging adults and elementary and middle school-aged children. A partnership that has blossomed since we opened Belmont Village Los Gatos in 2022. 🤝

Most recently, art students from Union Middle School sat down with our Belmont Village Los Gatos residents to hear their life stories, then transformed those conversations into beautiful portraits and written biographies. 🎨 The students recently presented their finished work to the residents who inspired them, and the artwork was later featured at the Health & Wellness Fair and the school’s open house. 🖼️

We’re grateful to see the envisioned intergenerational partnership come to life with more to come. 💖

After 24 remarkable years of leadership, guidance, and dedication, Jeanne Hansen is officially retiring. 💐 Jeanne has been an integral part of our Belmont Village Senior Living Geneva Road community, making a lasting impact on our residents, families and team members. Her passion for serving seniors extends outside of Belmont Village too. She serves on the LeadingAge Illinois Assisted Living Cabinet, a testament to her expertise, commitment, and influence within the senior care industry. We’re deeply grateful for her decades of service and wish her all the best in this well-earned next chapter.

Meet Regina, our Belmont Village Senior Living Johns Creek resident and a lifelong educator for 32 years. 🌟 Regina served with the Head Start Program in Gwinnett County and at Rockbridge Elementary—where she was honored as Teacher of the Year. 🏆 Even after retirement, Regina continued to inspire the next generation through volunteering her time in the classroom. ❤️📚

When it comes to bourbon, Kentucky sets the standard, but so does our incredible Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews resident, Dr. Jerry D. 🏇⭐️ With an impressive 20+ years in the bourbon industry, Dr. Jerry began his journey as a chemist for Barton Brands before joining Jim Beam, where he worked his way up over 12 years to become Master Distiller, succeeding the legendary Booker Noe. Dr. Jerry was the first non-Beam family member to hold this prestigious title, guiding the brand to global recognition. In 2023, he became the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee. 🏆 In honor of the Kentucky Derby, we celebrate more than just the race, and are proud to honor the legacy and craftsmanship of our resident, Dr. Jerry, a true Kentucky icon. 🎉

Giveback Spotlight: We are a community within a community and Belmont Village Senior Living Encino truly exemplified that earlier this month. 🌟 Fancy Feet Dance Studio in Pacific Palisades was destroyed in the fires earlier this year. Owned by the daughter of one of our residents at Belmont Village Encino, our residents and staff rallied in support, hosting a fundraiser to help rebuild the family-owned studio raising funds towards the studio's GoFundMe page, which has raised more than $57,000. 💃 The studio has established a new location and are slowly rebuilding the space while continuing to offer classes.

We are thrilled to see our community in Los Angeles recently get recognized for its incredible contributions and integration with the greater Westwood community. In celebration its 15th anniversary, Belmont Village was recognized with multiple awards and honors at a recent Westwood Community Council meeting. 🏆🎉 The team accepted awards presented by the City of Los Angeles (Council of the 5th District), UCLA as well as a certificate of congressional recognition. September 2024 Employee Spotlight 🌟

Helen Estrada has been an integral part of our community for more than seven years. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles, Helen has transitioned through various roles at Belmont Village, starting as a server and advancing to table captain, senior admin specialist, and now, human resource generalist. Helen’s contributions extend beyond our Westwood community, as she has supported several of our other Belmont Village communities, including Belmont Village Senior Living Aliso Viejo, Belmont Village Senior Living Hollywood Hills and Belmont Village Senior Living Encino and assisting us in launching new communities like Belmont Village Senior Living La Jolla.

We’re beyond proud to have Helen as part of the Belmont Village family. Her journey is a testament to the growth and dedication we value in our team members, and we look forward to seeing her continue to inspire those around her! 🙏❤️

We recently celebrated a milestone at our community—our 15th Anniversary! ❤️🎉 The event was a vibrant and unforgettable Bali Hai-themed celebration. 🌺🏝️ Our residents and staff enjoyed an event filled with tropical decor, delicious island-inspired cuisine and entertainment. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our journey together, and I look forward to many more years of creating cherished memories together. We’ll learn how to recognize and avoid common scams that are targeted at seniors and their families. These scams have become more convincing and sophisticated than ever. We’ll review phishing scams that attempt to steal your personal information, fake tech support scams, and grandparent scams— callers posting as a grandchild. Illinois residents will also learn how to file a complaint regarding scams with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Sonya works to foster communication and collaboration between the government and the community. Previously, she held a leadership role with the Cook County Treasurer’s office, spearheading initiatives such as Black Houses Matter. With a background as a longtime former talk radio producer with WVON 1690AM, Sonya brings a wealth of experience in media, communications, and community engagement to her current role.
