•You're mindful of others (even when you want to punch them in the throat).⠀⁣⁣
•You shower and dress every morning as if you have somewhere to go.⁣⁣

So, why do you think you should be doing more?⁣⁣

👉HERE'S THE THING⁣⁣

There's nothing wrong with you. Life is exhausting. You don't need a double espresso in the middle of the afternoon so you can get more done, you need to lie down once in a while.⁣⁣

Carrying out the simple basics of pulling yourself together to start your day takes the discipline of a Navy Seal.⠀⁣⁣

AND⁣⁣

When you add completing the list of stuff you have to do to get out of the house, you have the recipe for an emotional breakdown.⁣⁣
It's hard to keep it all together, and that's why you have to cut yourself some slack. Because the reality is every day you get little moments of happiness in an ocean of discomfort.⁣

Sometimes in life, the unexpected happens:⁣

∙ A break-up.⁣
∙ Losing your job.⁣
∙ A medical emergency.⁣
∙ A natural disaster.⁣
∙ Death of a loved one⁣

AND⁣

It’s easy to get stuck, overwhelmed, and paralyzed by anxiety, fear change, and uncertainty.⁣

You may begin to say things like:⁣

∙ “What’s wrong with me?”⁣
∙ “Why do I take things so hard?”⁣
∙ “I should be over this by now.”⁣

OR⁣

Try and convince yourself that if only you were-⁣

∙ Tougher⁣
∙ Stronger⁣
∙ Less compromising⁣
∙ More assertive⁣

You could prevent anxiety from derailing your life.⁣

Resilience is not about-⁣

∙ Being so tough that life’s stresses and challenges don’t even phase you.⁣
∙ Effortlessly bouncing back from a traumatic event with a massive grin on your face.⁣

EXERCISING EMOTIONAL CONTROL BY FINDING YOUR BALANCE AND MOVING FORWARD.⁣
Anxiety is the feeling of being unsafe.⁣

By identifying the dangers and building the resilience to work with what you’re feeling you can get back on track.⁣

🚗 You know that inner voice in your head, the one that talks non-stop like a three-year-old on a road trip.⁣

OR⁣

⚾️ Maybe your inner mutterings sound more like a sports announcer at the ballpark, delivering a play-by-play analysis and commenting on how you're dealing with things throughout your day.⁣

🗣"You should have this down by now."⁣
🗣"Could you look any more stupid, I don't think so."⁣
🗣"Everyone knows you don't know what you're talking about.,"⁣

You've been listening to the opinions and reactions of that voice for so long that you actually believe that sound you hear is YOU talking to YOU!⁣

🚨 SPOILER ALERT⁣

IT’S NOT YOU.⁣

Those constant internal conversations are more like the voice of a dinner guest who has no intention of leaving the table; EVER⁣

👉 HERE'S THE THING⁣

Although your inner commenter is a story of who you are, it's not really who you are.⁣

Your "inner-self" is like a narrator of a play, chronicling the situations and circumstances of the story of your life.⁣

BUT⁣

The story of your life is not YOUR LIFE. ⁣
Your life happens independently of whether the narrator is there or not.⁣

You can talk back to what your mind is saying and positively reshape your story. ⁣

AND⁣

The more aware you become of your ego, the more you see, and the more you see, the more choices you have, the more options you have, the more opportunity you have to step in and reframe your ego's words.⁣

Who would you rather be in life?⁣

∙ Who you think you are?⁣
∙ Who you want to be?⁣
∙ Who you truly are?⁣

Most people go through life being who they think they are.⁣

BUT⁣

Despite what the self-help gurus say, there's no fantastic or magical connection between who you think you are and the truth of who you are⁣

🤔 THINK ABOUT THIS⁣

🌵 A CACTUS PLANT ⁣

It's intended purpose in life is to be the unique cactus plant it's meant to be.⁣
Not for it to think that it’s a different kind of plant, such as a-⁣

∙ Rubber Plant⁣
∙ Dragon Tree⁣
∙ Ponytail palm⁣

AND⁣

The quicker that cactus can cut through the emotional and psychological hell it's putting itself through thinking it’s something it’s not and allow itself to be what it already is, a cactus, it will be a helluva lot happier. ⁣

👉 HERES THE THING⁣

Just like a cactus plant, you are you; that's your truth.⁣
How much time are you wasting trying to be who you think you are?⁣
What if who you think you are, your sense of self, isn’t even close to who you really are?⁣

✨ STOP LIVING YOUR LIFE SETTLING FOR WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE, SHOULD BE, OR WHO OTHERS THINK YOU SHOULD BE.⁣

Emotional habits are those things you do to avoid dealing with your emotional pain.⁣

They're your go-to "quick fix" behaviors that deaden negative feelings you want to avoid such as:⁣

∙ Fear⁣
∙ Grief⁣
∙ Anger⁣
∙ Sadness⁣
∙ Jealousy⁣
∙ Boredom⁣
∙ Guilt ⁣
∙ Anxiety⁣

BUT⁣

Even though you may feel better in the short-term by engaging in behaviors like:⁣

✓ Eating junk food⁣
✓ Sleeping too much⁣
✓ Binge-watching TV⁣
✓ Drinking too much⁣
✓ Out-of-control sexual practices⁣
✓ Getting lost in social media⁣
✓ Getting high before social events to relax⁣

You're actually making things a heck of a lot worse.⁣

👉 HERE'S THE THING⁣

The problem is that your "solutions" aren't solving your problems.⁣
Your emotional habits deal with the symptoms but not the underlying cause.⁣

AND⁣

Band-aiding problems doesn't stop your emotions from flowing.⁣
You wind up drowning in a flood of painful emotions, dependent on your harmful solutions and stuck in negative patterns of behavior. ⁣

The things you do to avoid, control, and minimize your emotional discomfort can become emotional habits and become dangerous blind spots in life.⁣

😩 Have you ever have one of those "why did I even get out of bed" days when everything goes wrong, and nothing goes right?⁣

AND⁣

🌈 Just as you cursing yourself for your imperfections, you look up and notice three absolutely perfect rainbows in the sky.⁣

AND⁣

In an instant, the walls of negativity collapse.⁣
You're hypnotized, captivated, and amazed by the feeling that you're part of something greater than yourself.⁣

‼️ THAT'S AWE⁣

AND⁣

You want more of it in your life because awe-inspiring moments dissolve negativity and change mindset..⁣
Allowing you to rise above the confines of your life and gives you a different, broader way of looking at your life.⁣

The mistake most people make is believing that awe-inspired moments are infrequent and require a stunning sunset or standing in the middle of Grand Canyon.⁣

BUT⁣

You don't have to be helicoptering over the Grand Canyon to get the job done.⁣
Because, simply watching awe-inducing slideshows and videos can improve your mood and well-being.⁣

📅 This week set your intention for igniting all your senses and noticing the smaller yet powerful moments of awe that you've been missing.⁣

If you've convinced yourself that numbers such as:⁣

∙ Your salary.⁣
∙ Your weight.⁣
∙ The cost of your home, car, or wardrobe⁣
∙ Your age.⁣
∙ Your wins.⁣
∙ Your losses.⁣

Somehow are the tools you use to measure your value and worth as a person.⁣

🖐 DON'T GET ME WRONG⁣

There's nothing offensive or unacceptable about liking your appearance, being proud of your job, or feeling good about what you've accomplished in life.⁣

👉 HERE'S THE THING⁣

When you measure your value by the numbers, you'll never feel valuable enough.⁣

SO⁣

Maybe it's time to take a step back and make your self-worth dependent on your inner qualities.⁣

💁‍♀️ Push the numbers aside and stop looking at comparing how you add up compared to others.⁣

AND⁣

➕ Add up the value you place on human virtues such as:⁣

You're worried everyone will notice that your little black dress is a bit too tight.⁣

All of a sudden, the guy standing next to you clenches his chest and yells,⁣

"Help me! I think I'm having a heart attack!"⁣
As the guests run to his side, you grab your phone and call 911.⁣

❓ How pre-occupied are you now about your appearance? ⁣

👉 HERE'S THE THING⁣

When you're fully present in the here, and now there's no room in your mind for anything else.⁣

AND⁣

Relieving the pressure of worrying the judgment of others takes the edge of the anxiety and negative thoughts.⁣

SO⁣

The next time you find yourself dwelling on someone’s criticism, ask yourself:⁣

🤔 “What difference does it make?”⁣

The answer is none.⁣

👉 HERE'S A MINDFUL OBSERVATIONAL EXERCISE TO TRY:⁣

∙ Choose an object in the room and focus on watching it for a minute or two.⁣
∙ Don’t do anything except look at the object. Relax into watching for as long as your concentration allows.⁣

You're basing it on approval-seeking and not self-acceptance.⁣

✋🏻 STOP BEING SO POLITE: DEPRESSION IS REAL, AND IT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND⁣

Most people who suffer from clinical depression act as if they're trying to impress someone on a first date.⁣

On the outside you're-⁣

∙ Laughing⁣
∙ Smiling⁣
∙ Optimistic⁣
∙ Acting involved and engaged⁣

While on the inside there's an aching void and you're-⁣

∙ Numb⁣
∙ Empty⁣
∙ Paralyzed.⁣

👉 HERE'S THE THING⁣

Many people don't want to risk looking weak or defenseless to others and ⁣
play it safe, when it comes to expressing distressing feelings⁣

Such as⁣

∙ Sadness⁣
∙ Sorrow⁣
∙ Hopelessness⁣
∙ Misery⁣

When it comes to feeling down, most people invalidate their symptoms, especially depressed feelings.⁣

To make a bad situation worse, you hear that critical shaming voice inside your head telling you⁣

∙ "Snap out of it!"⁣
∙ "Stop whining!"⁣

👉 HERE'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING⁣

Your take away from this post is to take your depression seriously.⁣
I know, if you're feeling hopeless all you want is to figure out how to get a break from your suffering and to stop thinking about it.⁣

BUT⁣

The way to become less depressed is to start treating your depression less casually.⁣
The more severely you view your depression, the more determined you become to take action against the behavioral syndrome of depression, and that is the key to overcoming it.⁣

❤️ REMEMBER⁣

Clinical depression is a severe condition. It's not something you can "snap out of" or ignore and expect it to go away on its own.⁣
It's a condition that makes your life horrible, and it has the power to persuade you to try and kill yourself.⁣

SO⁣

Yes, respect your enemy.⁣

Take your depression seriously and to treat it with the attention it deserves just as you would cancer heart disease or any other life-threatening illness.⁣
