I've been thinking about effort a lot lately.
How much effort we put into everything. How scary it feels to drop the effort and simply exist. Who are we without effort? Are we allowed to take up space if we aren't trying our veryveryvery best?
What happens if 'your very best' is something that starts from deep within.
What happens if your very best is simply showing up with who you are and what you bring to the moment.
What happens if that's enough?
I see effort around me everywhere. In society, in my friends, in the people I meet, in myself. And, more and more lately I wonder how this became our normal state of being.
If we aren't effort-ing then we're lazy (and lazy is the worst thing ever ryt?!)? If we aren't effort-ing then we must be sick (sometimes we get sick to avoid effort-ing but that's another story entirely). If we aren't efforting then we somehow don't deserve our place here? Have nothing to bring to the table? Don't get dinner because we didn't contribute?
I'm going to venture a guess that even if we don't push past our own edges to prove ourselves to the world, that we are still contributing enough to deserve our places here. Maybe showing up is all you need to do to receive love. Maybe love is already on offer, and all we need to do is say yes.
