The School of Recovery Living Clean

The School of Recovery Living Clean Our Basic Text already tells us that any addict is welcome in NA regardless of what we look like, how old we are, and what kind of spiritual beliefs we hold.

Our Message is that a addict any addict can stop using drugs lose the desire & find a new way to live * We Have HYBRID Morning Mtgs Monday thru Friday 8:15am - 9:30am PST * Zoom ID 507 839 9781 - PW v0Lbm0 Addiction is a disease that does not discriminate, and neither does the program of NA. Admittedly there is a stereotype of the "typical" candidate for NA - urban, criminal, a needle-user - and that narrow vision does describe some of us, but we are also professionals, and parents, and students, and so on, living in cities, small towns, and rural communities in countries all over the world. We can only hope to gesture at our diversity in the space of one book. Even our name itself, NARCOTICS Anonymous may not fully describe our membership. Addiction has nothing to do with where we come from or the specific substances we used. Our members come from every walk of life. We are not contained within political or geographic boundaries, nor are we limited by any individual differences in faith or philosophy. No matter what conflicts are unfolding in the world at large, we aspire to an ideal of unity: Our common welfare should come first. Our text explains that this unity of purpose helps us "to achieve the true spirit of anonymity" where all of us are equal as members of the group. With that as our foundation, we as individual recovering addicts are each able to find our own distinct voice and to sing a song that is uniquely ours. We hope the Sixth Edition Basic Text will offer a vision of recovery for addicts around the world - those who have already found the rooms of NA and those who will walk through our doors tomorrow. Over the years our fellowship has changed and our literature has expanded and been revised, but the message remains the same:

An addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. You are welcome here. Please stay and be part of our growth, change, and recovery.

2nd NA Tradition - 2nd Month πŸ’¨ 🫡☝️

The Second Tradition of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) states:

"For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authorityβ€”a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern".

This tradition serves as a foundational guideline for leadership and decision-making within the fellowship, focusing on humility, service, and spiritual guidance rather than personal ego or authority.

Key Principles of Tradition 2

Ultimate Authority (Group Conscience):

Decisions in NA are not made by individuals, officers, or popular members, but through a "group conscience"β€”a collective, prayerful, and thoughtful decision-making process.

Trusted Servants, Not Governors:

Leaders in NA (secretaries, GSRs, committee members) are considered "trusted servants." Their role is to serve the group, not to dictate, govern, or hold power over others.

Focus on Purpose:

The tradition ensures that the group remains focused on its primary purposeβ€”carrying the message to the addict who still suffersβ€”by minimizing the influence of strong personalities.

Spiritual Guidance:

It encourages relying on a Higher Power, as understood by the group, rather than personal opinion.

Application in NA
Rotation of Leadership:

To prevent the accumulation of power, service positions are rotated, ensuring no single member becomes a permanent "boss".

Avoiding "Bleeding Deacons":

The tradition warns against "bleeding deacons" (members who feel the group cannot function without them) and encourages "elder statesmen" (members who offer wise counsel without needing control).

Decision Making:

When conflicts arise, the group relies on the collective conscience to guide them, rather than relying on a single leader's decision.

In essence, the Second Tradition protects NA from self-destruction by replacing personal ambition with selfless service and spiritual unity.

NA Step 2 - Spiritual Principle

Finally, having a little more HUMILITY that we practiced in the First Step, will help us here, as well.

Our best thinking was what got us here, to this treatment center or to our first meeting, or to jail or the hospital.

By realizing that we can’t do this alone, we become humble enough to throw our hands up in surrender and ask for help.

We ask others who have gone before us for help.

We ask a Power greater than ourselves for help. We learn to become reliant upon this Power and get the evidence we need to go on to Step Three. Go to Step Three
