Risks I’ve taken 👇🏼

- Getting off of steroids & going through TSW - topical steroids withdrawal syndrome
- Joining a clinical trial for a biologic
- Using that biologic - Dupixent- for two years.
- choosing to get off of Dupixent (and now being off of it for 8 years)
- going to multiple derms to figure out why I was experiencing chronic staph infections (not having to do with Dupixent)
- trying out Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
- going to a holistic dermatologist
- after 5 years, finally getting patch testing done and learning I’m allergic to common ingredients in our everyday “eczema friendly” products and BPA
- sharing my journey PUBLICALLY so other people can learn from my experience 😅

And so much more!! So when people say I’m “lucky” that I figured it out - no - I’m worked hard and have taken risks to ensure my skin looks the way it does now.

Happy healing mindset, fam 🖤

Did yall hear me back there?! 🗣️🗣️🗣️

GO GET PATCH TESTING. Specifically something similar to the North American 70 Series which tests out common ingredients in our everyday products - yes, even our “eczema friendly” products.

BPAs - also known as bisphenol A- is a CHEMICAL used since the 1950s to make polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, which are commonly found in food containers, beverage cans and… THERMAL PAPER RECEIPTS. 😱😱😱

Yes - this was the largest patch on my back after doing patch testing and NO ONE could’ve paid me money to convince me this was the #1 reason why I was flaring up 🫠

Fast forward to almost a year later, where I’ve removed BPAs from things like my water bottle, toothbrush and glasses… my skin on my face is CLEAR AS DAY. No more eczema (on my face)… no more staph infections. Like a whatttttt?!

HUGE shoutout to my derm for suggesting I get patch testing done and therefore saving my life and sanity! So grateful for you 🖤🫂

Happy healing mindset, fam! Stay curious and open to what could be causing your eczema flareups!

Because we are TIYAD! 😩 Please & thank you

Living with eczema can feel like a non-stop roller coaster ride of figuring out what works and doesn’t work. In fact, it’s so COMPLICATED that what may work today, may not just work tomorrow. 🫠

So for me, just finding grace within myself and the situation is what has carried me over these last 30+ years of living with eczema.

Happy healing mindset, fam! It’s easier said than done, but paying for patience, grace and compassion, can turn a messy/frustrated moment, into one of surrender and acceptance.

Read this 👇🏼

I get parents in my DMs all the time who are doing everything they can for their child’s eczema, like elimination diets, allergy testing, gut health protocols.

And I respect that completely! In fact, I LOVE IT. Kudos to you! Finding the root cause is a worthy goal, AND this is not about blaming you for pursuing it.

But recently a mom reached out to me. She’s committed to finding her son’s root cause and honestly, good for her. But nothing is working…yet (probably bc eczema is so complex). And she was hesitant about biologics like Dupixent, which is completely fair.

I told her what I wish someone had told me yearssss ago: just wants relief, babe. Start there.

I was that child. And when I finally got access to western medicine, specifically Dupixent, it didn’t stop me from getting to the root cause. It gave me a FOUNDATION from which to do the work. It got me stable enough to actually live my life.

My skin has been manageable and clear for 8 years. No treatments. And it started with giving my body a fighting chance.

Root cause work and relief are not opposites. They can coexist.

💬 Drop a 🤍 if you’ve ever felt torn between the two.

*tagging some amazing eczema mamas here to share their perspective!

Correlation does NOT mean causation!

Sorry not sorry that for the fed up emotions I’ve been feeling for awhile after watching another video of someone trying to sell a “gut health” solution to heal eczema.

Eczema can be super COMPLEX, especially for us long timers. My journey of 30+ years of living with eczema is an example of that.

(This did well on TT, so let’s see if it surpasses the test here 👀👀👀)
