Supporting a Gender Expansive Child Means Showing Up With Love, Not Limits 💖

Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, seen, and celebrated for who they are - not who the world insists they should be.

When a child expresses their gender in ways that are creative, evolving, or outside of traditional norms, they’re not confused or broken - they’re courageous. They’re exploring what it means to be fully themselves in a world that often tells them not to and that's amazing.

And as parents, caregivers, and trusted adults, our job is not to question or contain that expression - our job is to protect it, honor it, and learn from it.

Research shows what our hearts already know: gender expansive kids thrive when they are supported. They struggle when they are rejected.

So here’s what support can look like:

💖 Listening without judgment

💖 Using their chosen name and pronouns

💖 Creating space for curiosity and exploration

💖 Defending their dignity in conversations and in public

💖 Reminding them every day that they are loved without conditions

To the families who are walking this journey: Your love is powerful. You are helping your child write a story of wholeness, not shame. And in doing so, you are changing the world.

Happy International Nonbinary People’s Day! 💛🤍💜🖤

➡️ What does it mean to be “nonbinary”?
Nonbinary refers to people who do not subscribe to the gender binary. Some use the term exclusively, while others may use it interchangeably with terms like genderq***r, genderfluid, gender non-conforming, gender diverse, or gender expansive. It can also be combined with other descriptors e.g. nonbinary woman or transmasc nonbinary. Language is imperfect, so it’s important to trust and respect the words that nonbinary people use to describe their genders and experiences.

To all of our nonbinary loved ones: We see you, we support you, and we're proud of you! 💛🤍💜🖤

What is Non-Binary Awareness Week?! 😱

Non-Binary Awareness Week is dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating non-binary people, culminating on July 14 with International Non-Binary People's Day.

💜 This week is used to raise awareness and celebrate the diversity of gender identities that exist outside of the traditional gender binary.

💛 It is a significant time for the Non-Binary community to come together and share their experiences and stories, as well as to create a space for education and advocacy.

🖤 The Non-Binary community is a diverse one, and includes people who identify as genderq***r, genderfluid, agender, bigender, gender non-conforming, and more.

🤍 This week is a chance for the Non-Binary community to celebrate their unique experiences and identities, and to create visibility and understanding. [Source: heckinunicorn.com]

GOOD NEWS!

Big win for LGBTQ+ rights: Wisconsin’s ban on “conversion therapy” is finally going into effect. The state’s Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that the Republican-controlled legislature had no power to block the protections, which were introduced by Democrat Gov. Tony Evers more than two years ago.
