🧋Is Your Iced Latte Sustainable?

Hear me out.

Ever think, man, if I could just get an iced latte I would be so happy!

And so you get it.

And you’re happy- if your coffee shop made it the way you like that is.

But chances are you don’t get your coffee once & think, “Damn, that was good I never need another coffee now.”

We know the limits of how long the coffee runs in our system.

So what this does is then create a reliable pattern in the brain= We drink the coffee to feel Good. & the brain loves predictability, as it wastes less energy.

If this is so easy to do & understand, why then do we massively miss the mark when it comes to activities that are far more transformative.

I’m talking yoga, meditation & breathwork.

While less easy than picking up a latte, these practices will offer you a far greater return than the latte habit if you actually practice them.

And If you’re like me, too much caffeine actually sends me down the rabbit hole of anxiety anyway.

So what if, we started giving ourselves as much credit to shift our energy as a coffee.

This isn’t a post to quit coffee.

This is a post telling you you’re way way way more powerful than your coffee.

And if you create a habit of yoga, breathwork & mediation, you’ll be absolutely amazed at how much more power you have over your mental arena, and energy as a whole.

🧋If you have any questions about what I just laid out, comment below “Questions Please! “ And I’ll personally reach out.

👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻Bonus, comment your fav go to yoga practice & maybe how you like your coffee too 😜

🥩 or 🫘? (Read Full Caption)

It is unhelpful to direct people to connect to their power all in the same way.

But it’s not always because the method is faulty, it’s because it’s the wrong application of the method in that moment.

It’s about how digestible the method is through a student’s perception.

✨Think of it this way, our bodies need protein.

Whether it is from 🥩 or 🫘, our bodies need protein to optimally function.

So think of protein as connecting to power.

If you told me I’d need to eat beans for my protein here on out, I’d not connect.

Not because the method is impossible (because hello veg/vegans), but because the method isn’t valid for me.

4 years of being vegetarian not understanding why I felt gassy, bloated & uncomfortable digesting taught me that one method isn’t the way for all.

The same is true for power.

Connecting to anger might be helpful for those who repress it, but not for those who exercise it excessively already.

Your power is unique.

There are tools that work well for most, but don’t get hung up if something isn’t working for you. It’s just time to change the method.

If you want to learn more, send me a message. I’d love to work with you ✨

🦂I Was Told I’d Need Back Surgery.

I was living in Korea, practicing yoga & began to feel constant pain in my back & legs. To the point I couldn’t sit through a movie.

I got nerve block shots & was told there was nothing else to do & spinal surgery would be the next step.

I never got the surgery.

I changed my yoga practice.

I wasn’t practicing a method that offered me proper support, and so poses like this scorpion here were a fear of mine for a long time. I didn’t want to hurt myself again.

But here I am, on day 1 of showing you a pose I’ve slowly been learning how to feel steady in. Trusting myself & my better educated practice to face fears. I don’t practice this often, but play a lot with the back strength it takes to feel stable.

🌿3 Ways to Be Majestical.

“Yoga,” or not, my tips are the same:

1. Own What You Do.

-Thing is, there are probs more than a billion ways to create & connect to your joy & purpose. Love knitting cat socks? Great. But know why you love it, and do it because you love it. Not because it’s the popular or understandable thing to do.

2. Know People Not Liking You Isn’t a Bad Thing.

-While we don’t want to be as****es, we also don’t want to be kissing them. Some people are your people, others, for reasons related or unrelated to you, just aren’t.

3. Honour Your Strengths.

-This is really a combo of 1+2. If you know & like what you do & are good at it, that is a strength. When you own your power, people will be more inclined to side with you or to decide to not vibe with you. This is a natural consequence of putting yourself out there. Choose to give attention to the ones who connect with your strengths.

Give this a ❤️ & save if you found this useful!

I’d love to know your tips below!!! Or if you know where “Majestical” is from 😂

🥠Do You Actually Like It?

I had this thought the other day as I was in the steam room. (Yes, I definitely like steam rooms)

As yoga teachers (and humans!!) we need to ask ourselves “Do I like what I teach (do) or is what I teach (do) just popular?”

These are two very different concepts, and while these concepts can absolutely coexist, it’s important to investigate the answers.

If you’re making a career out of teaching yoga, figuring out what you actually like to teach is imperative or you’ll soon be filled with burn out, imposter syndrome, and a general dislike of teaching.

It’s unfortunate that some of the most packed, popular yoga classes I’ve been to are absolutely not at all what I’d call a good class. I know other teacher friends of mine have expressed this issue as well.

Outside example: Think about Starbucks. Their coffee beans are actually BURNT beyond what beans should be to make sure all the Starbucks in the world taste the same (aka burning out all the flavours of the beans). I worked as a barista so I’ve been taught the basics of roasting procedures.

BUT people still love Starbucks.

Becuase it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s automatically good. It’s familiar. I loved Starbucks for a long time becuase that’s what I thought the best coffee was.

Personal Example: I used to teach the bikram series becuase some studios I worked at required this in order to teach there. I’d actually shrink a little inside when someone would say “I love your hot 60/90 class!”

BUT these classes were the most popular with the students so they had to be on the schedule to make the studio money. And if I wanted more classes, some of them had to be the set sequence.

This post isn’t to say your popular yoga class is s**t.

This post is simply asking you to examine if you’re really in alignment with what you’re teaching!

This is a post calling in some greater awareness so you don’t wonder why you’re not feeling empowered as a yoga teacher.

I hope this helps ❤️ for more guidance, give me a follow. For personal guidance on your teaching journey, send me a message.

👙Underrated Yoga Pose.

This, friends, is what I’ve decided is the underrated upgrade of twisting triangle.

For whatever reason, parivrtta trikonasana is sometimes taught as a beginner pose, or jus the thing you do after trikonasana.

If you add in no block support & twisting over tight legs & back this full pose can go pretty haywire, fast.

So, here’s why I offer this pose shown above.

What it does is lengthen the outer leg line (hi IT band), takes the back leg to a more rooted & neutral position, as well as create an easier grounding point for the bottom hand and arm line to help in rotation for the twist.

For me, this pose feels amazing & supported.

Something that doesn’t always happen in the full parivrtta trikonasana. Especially if you’re working with a long torso like I am, the full variation can seem cramped.

Let me know if there are poses you prefer modified to the “full” variation.
