The Piggy Box - Modern Day Piggy Bank THE PIGGY BOX is an easy-to-use piggy bank designed to help kids become money smart and generous. We want to make money saving fun and practical for kids!

Our story with the Piggy Box began with our seven year old son, Jacob, who started a trash bin collection business almost two years ago. Each week, he brought in our neighbors’ trash cans after trash collection day. As his business grew, so did his income. It was quickly becoming apparent that his traditional piggy bank was inadequate. He couldn’t get his money, specifically the dollar bills, in and out of the piggy bank. We used everything from chopsticks to medical forceps to get those folded bills out! It made a mess - the coins would fall out as he tried pulling the dollar bills out. To make matters worse he had no idea how much money he had. Imagine your bank not knowing how much money you had. If that’s not OK for you as an adult, why should it be OK for our kids? So began the idea of the Piggy Box. We wanted Jacob to know exactly how much money he had so it had to be an easy-to-use money saving and organizing system. The Piggy Box is organized into three drawers: “SAVE,” “SPEND,” and “GIVE.” Unlike piggy banks or money jars, which we had tried previously, the drawers have removable dividers so kids can sort and organize their bills by denominations. There are separate compartments for coins and bills. There is also a companion app that helps kids track their money. The Piggy Box is a fun and easy way for kids to manage money while teaching them sound budgeting principles and instilling ideas of “giving” at an early age. The Piggy Box is a new way to save money for today’s kids. It rethinks and reimagines how and what we teach our kids about important life principles. We hope you agree.

It's Giving Tuesday!

One of the reasons we came up with the "GIVE" drawer was to instill the value of charity and giving back. Giving Tuesday is the perfect occasion to encourage our children to donate to a cause, help a neighbor, or engage in an act of kindness.

If your children practice giving donations, what are some charities they like?

Meet Norah! Her mom was one of our very first customers, and over a decade later, Norah still uses her beloved piggy box. As she heads off to college, we couldn't be prouder of her accomplishments!

Norah shared her thoughts on The Piggy Box:

"Learning how to organize my money at a young age has definitely shaped how I use my money now. Saving and giving has become a normal part of what I do. Even though I've moved on to using Apple Pay and debit cards, I still love my piggy box and organize cash in there!"

We're honored to have played a part in her financial education journey, shaping her into a responsible saver and giver! Congratulations, Norah - we have no doubt you'll achieve great things!

REPOST from

I was a volunteer for the Center for Financial Education's Mad City Money financial literacy simulation event. High school Seniors got to learn about budgeting, real life expenses, and life's curve balls. I participated as a salesman, upselling daily food choices. Why shouldn't we have steak and lobster everyday??!??
It was such a fun experience and judging from the comments from the students, it was a valuable learning opportunity for them! Thank you for the amazing opportunity and !
Here's to financial literacy for our future generation!

We received the sweetest message last week. Ezra, age 7, asked his mom to reach out to us about one of our piggy boxes that was out of stock. He already has our Classic Wood Piggy Box and wanted to get one for Shay, his four year old sister who turns five this week. When asked why he wanted to get Shay a piggy box, that's what he had to say.

We are so honored that Ezra loves his piggy box and wanted to get one for his sister too. At such a young age, Ezra appreciates the importance of having a good place to save his money. We couldn't agree more - The Piggy Box is a great place to save money!

Thankfully we were able to find a few more Classic Wood Piggy Boxes for Ezra. One is en route to Shay! Happy Birthday Shay. We know you'll be money saavy just like your brother Ezra.

If you are looking for organizations to donate money to, this is a list of the organizations and what they do. One of our favorites is World Central Kitchen. They are one of the fastest organizations to deploy and provide meals to those affected.

It is hard to process the devastation we have experienced in Los Angeles this past week. We are grateful our family is safe, but we ache for all those in our community who have lost their homes or a loved one.

Thank you to our friends and family who have checked in on us. A huge thank you to our firefighters and first responders who continue to fight the fires and keep us safe.

If you are interested in seeing ways in which to help us rebuild LA, please check out organizations in need of donations or volunteers on our The Piggy Box page.

Stay safe, my Angeleno friends. ❤️
