Every number you see here? It’s a mama held, a provider trained, a story honored.
2025 was a year of deep listening, bold action, and radical care.

We’re proud of what we built—and even prouder of who we built it with.

To our funders and partners: thank you for believing in Black-led healing.

Today we honor the life, legacy, and immeasurable impact of Dr. Janell Green Smith.

Dr. Smith was a midwife, a healer, a protector of life, and a fierce advocate for birthing people. She dedicated her work to ensuring that others were seen, heard, and safe during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. That commitment makes this loss especially devastating.

Dr. Smith passed away during childbirth. Her death is not just a personal tragedy. It is a painful reminder of the Black maternal health crisis and the reality that even those with deep expertise, lived experience, and advocacy are not protected from systemic failures.

We grieve the loss of a brilliant provider and community leader. We grieve the loss of a mother. We grieve alongside every family who trusted her care and every colleague who walked this work beside her.

To Dr. Smith’s family, loved ones, and community, we send our deepest condolences. We hold you in love, in prayer, and in collective mourning. Your loss is felt far beyond words.

May we honor Dr. Janell Green Smith by continuing the work she gave her life to. May we demand better systems, safer care, and real accountability. May her legacy live on through action, advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to Black birthing people.

Rest in power, Dr. Smith.

We were honored to support the Adopt-A-Family campaign with 🤍

Today, BGMH dropped off gifts for the mom we sponsored, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to show up for families in our community this season. Small acts of care can make a meaningful difference—and collective generosity makes it possible.

Thank you to MOMS of Orange County for the incredible work you do and for allowing us to be part of this beautiful effort. 💫
