We think we don’t have time to exercise because we picture the whole thing: drive to gym, hour workout, shower, change, rush to work.
(Which is great if you can do it!)
But I’m keeping it simple - just a little movement each day. Building it right into my morning routine instead.
Consistency over perfection 💪

1) Prayer: learning to trust in the Lord brings comfort in difficult times

2) Scripture reading: scripture reading as a family and reflection on the scripture gives them wisdom in difficult situations

3) Service: learning to put others first builds empathy, self-worth, and a sense of purpose beyond themselves.

4) Forgiveness: Learning to forgive and move forward helps emotional maturity and also in maintaining future relationships.

5) Christian faith expressed through love, community, and age-appropriate practices combined with warm family relationships, may be a powerful tool for emotional resilience. 💙

Children's mental health is just as important as their physical health, but it often gets overlooked. Kids face many challenges that can affect how they feel and think, including school demands, social situations, family changes, and world events. When children struggle with their mental health, it impacts everything - their friendships, school performance, sleep, and overall happiness.

Creating a safe space where kids can talk about their feelings without judgment is crucial. Parents should watch for signs like changes in mood, sleeping problems, difficulty concentrating, or withdrawal from activities they used to enjoy. Teaching children healthy ways to handle stress and emotions helps build skills they'll use their whole lives. If you notice ongoing concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to school counselors, therapists, or your child's doctor. Remember, asking for help shows strength, not weakness.

In relationships, it can be easy to get upset when your partner does something you don't like. When this happens, we usually want to blame them or point out what they did wrong. But this often makes things worse and can hurt your relationship.

Instead of focusing on what your partner did wrong, try asking yourself: "How can I help?" This simple question makes you part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Maybe your partner forgot to do the dishes - instead of getting angry, ask if they're feeling overwhelmed and offer to help. This approach shows you care about their well-being, builds trust, and makes you both feel closer. Next time you feel frustrated, pause and ask: "How can I help make this better?"

When your adult child confronts you about a childhood mistake, your response can either rebuild your relationship or damage it further. Many parents make the same errors when these difficult conversations happen, but knowing what to avoid can help you handle these moments better.

The most important thing is to take responsibility for your actions and apologize sincerely. Don't lecture them about their feelings or tell them how hard your own childhood was. Don't list all the good things you did as a parent or call them ungrateful.

These responses make your adult child feel unheard and dismissed. Instead, focus on listening to their experience, acknowledging the hurt you caused, and showing genuine remorse.

Remember, the goal isn't to defend yourself - it's to rebuild trust and strengthen your relationship with your child.

When trauma happens to one person, it affects everyone around them. Spouses, friends, and family members all feel the impact in different ways.

Trauma can change how people talk to each other. Some people might become quiet and pull away. Others might feel angry or worried more often. It can affect sleep, work, and daily life. People close to the trauma survivor might feel unsure how to help.

These reactions are natural. Trauma is hard, and healing takes time. Relationships can get stronger through communication, patience, and support when needed.

Healing works best when people do it together. When everyone understands trauma and faces it as a team, they can start to heal.

Talking to your teenager about tough topics doesn't have to be scary. Here are some tips that can help you approach difficult conversations with your teenager:

1. Pick the right time. Don't start heavy conversations when they're stressed or busy. Find a quiet moment when you both have time to talk.

2. Listen first. Let them share their thoughts before you jump in with advice. Show them you care about what they think.

3. Stay calm. Even if you feel upset, try to keep your voice steady. Yelling usually makes teens shut down.

4. Ask questions. Instead of lecturing, ask "What do you think about this?" or "How are you feeling?" This helps them open up.

5. Be honest. It's okay to admit when you don't know something or when you've made mistakes too.

6. Give them space. Sometimes they need time to think before they're ready to talk more.

These conversations take practice, but they help build a stronger relationship with your teen.

Individual Therapy vs. Family Therapy: What's the Difference?

Individual therapy is one-on-one sessions where you work with a therapist on your personal challenges, emotions, and goals. It's private time to focus on yourself.

Family therapy brings family members together to work on communication, solve conflicts, and improve relationships. Everyone participates and learns new ways to support each other.

Both types of therapy can help, but they focus on different things. Individual therapy helps you grow personally, while family therapy helps your whole family grow together.

It's true - when someone in your family struggles with their mental health, it touches everyone. You might feel worried, confused, or even guilty. This is completely normal.

Families often don't know how to help. You might wonder what to say or do. You might feel scared or overwhelmed. These feelings are common.

Remember that mental health struggles are not anyone's fault. You can't fix someone else's mental health, but you can support them. You can also take care of yourself.

It's okay to ask for help. Family therapy can teach everyone better ways to communicate and cope. Support groups exist for families too.

You don't have to handle this alone. Getting help shows strength, not weakness.
