The air feels like fall
But the flowers still look full.
My family gathered
Some new some now gone
I met a long lost friend of Mitch’s
We slept so well and then not at all
Alternating
Full and fall
Rocked by a boat
Soothed by rain on a tin roof
Dreaming of giraffes underwater.
I went all the way into the ocean.
Water has the quality of mercy.
Mercy mercy me.
We ate and how we met stories.
We mourned and mended and made new memories.
Maybe making memories is one way we fight back.
Maybe it’s how we refuel for the fight.
I sit charging up for the flight.
Doing this because I really do hate saying goodbye to all of the blooming.

Happy heavenly birthday to the un and only Taylor Negron. The Dashiki Lover. The Pizza Boy.
Taylor’s delicious mix of storytelling, spiritual questing, gossip, jokes and live of LA were part of what made uncab uncab when we were first becoming ourselves.
Gone too soon but here in spirit.

We’ve been featured in We Killed: The Rise of Women in American Comedy, CNN’s History of Comedy, PBS’s Women in Comedy and in Kathy Griffin’s memoir.
We co-produced The Coming Out Party. And we were the incubator for Julia Sweeney’s God Said Ha!
Our .edu branch has been in operation for over a dozen years under various titles including Infinite Writing, UnCab Lab, The Comedian’s Way and The Beth Lapides Workshop. We’ve been hosted by UCLA Extension, IOWest, The Skirball Center, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, LA Gay and Le***an Center, Mbar, PS 122, Second City and Actors Comedy Studio.
