October has been… a whole thing. šŸ˜… I turn 40 on the 25th and, not gonna lie, I’m going through it a little bit. Swipe for the vibes šŸ‘‰

Part of me is so ready because I know this decade is going to be full of upgrades, adventures, and abundance. But another part of me is like… how the actual hell did we get here so fast?

And I’m a lil’ embarrassed to admit that I’ve been...

Catching myself obsessing over new grey hairs and stressing about them more than I should…

Googling the ages of actors in my favorite shows to see if we’re around the same age (for some reason it makes me feel better and sometimes worse 🤣)

Low-key tempted by Botox but resisting for personal reasons (for now)

Still feeling mixed emotions about the kid topic although I honestly DO trust that I will be happy either way (I just really thought I’d have more clarity by now).

Anyway, it’s messy. It’s real. And it’s the season I’m in.

Why? Because if our gut and our hormonesĀ aren’t working in symphony everythingĀ can feel off. And if PMS is loud or you’re struggling withĀ low energy and mood swings, it may be time to get your gut health in check.Ā

Did you know there’s something called the
estrobolome? It’sĀ the collection of gut microbes (and their enzymes) that metabolize estrogen, influencing whether estrogen is reactivated and recirculated or safely eliminated.Ā

When this system is disrupted (dysbiosis), more estrogen may be reabsorbed, which is linked to symptoms like PMS, breast tenderness, and heavy periods.Ā

I just spent 15 minutes typing out my unfiltered response to this question I got in stories (swipe to reveal) šŸ‘‰

I wanted to expand on my original answer because I feel SO passionately that…

1) YES, it’s important to have health goals and to always be nurturing our mind, body & soul but…

2) NO, I do not think we always need to have new physique goals.

As someone who was a chronic dieter for over a decade, I thought the way my body looked somehow made me more worthy or lovable.

I didn’t think it was possible to take a season off dieting or hardcore workouts (unless it was unintentional because I ā€œcheatedā€).

But the constant obsession with weight loss and restriction took away from my ability to focus on other things like my hormones, relationship with myself, growing my passions and spending time with people who loved me (regardless of how my body I looked).

I’ve worked with dozens of women over the years that have chased a certain body composition or ā€œlookā€ for SO long that they develop hormonal & gut imbalances, fertility struggles and lack of confidence that impact their careers, passions, relationships and big dreams.

It’s šŸ’Æ percent possible to release weight in a sustainable and healthy way (I JUST did a post on how I would go about it before the new year) but it should come with the right support, built in breaks and nervous system and mindset work…

So maybe this is a beautiful season for you to focus on physique and fitness goals and push yourself outside your comfort zone (and I LOVE that) but maybe it’s not… and that’s ok too. What does your gut say? šŸ¤”

šŸ‘‰ When you start NOW, you’re giving yourself 4 full months to build momentum which is enough time to see real progress without the crash diets, the all-or-nothing trap, or skipping out on the holiday foods you love (I’m still saying yes to pumpkin spice treats and champagne toasts!).

Weight release is not about following a program to a T. It’s about creating steady habits that your body feels safe to sustain. And when you learn to work with your cycle and your hormones, every change feels easier and more enjoyable.
