🕊️ When Power Touches the Body

In yoga we study the chakras — not as abstract ideas, but as reflections of how human beings experience the world.

Last week, two very different places echo the same truth.

In Minneapolis, a woman lost her life during a federal immigration enforcement action — a moment where state power met a human body, with irreversible consequences.

In Venezuela, millions continue to live under conditions where political power controls safety, movement, voice, and dignity — shaping daily life through fear, instability, and force.

Different contexts. Different systems. A shared theme.

🌱 When the Root Chakra is threatened, safety becomes conditional.

đź’› When the Solar Plexus is compromised, dignity and agency are taken away.

🗣️ When the Throat Chakra is suppressed, truth struggles to be heard.

đź’š When the Heart closes, suffering becomes easier to ignore.

Yoga asks us to notice this — not to turn away, not to harden, but to stay present.

Justice begins in the body. Awareness is a practice. Compassion is an action.

May we move, breathe, and live in ways that honor every person’s right to safety, dignity, and voice.

Today’s focus is partner yoga — a practice that’s as much about connection as it is about movement. Working with a partner invites us to build trust, improve communication, and find balance together, both on and off the mat.

In this issue, we’re sharing easy partner yoga practices you can try at home, tips for syncing breath and movement, and ways to bring more playfulness into your practice. Whether it’s with a friend, loved one, or fellow yogi, this is your invitation to explore yoga as a shared journey.

Ground the Fire in Pitta Season

Nourish your body to steady your mind.

Summer is Pitta season—a time of heat, intensity, and transformation.
And right now, many of us are carrying more than usual.
🔥 Anger. 🔥 Injustice. 🔥 Overwhelm.

It might feel silly—insufficient even—to talk about food when the world feels like it’s burning. But in Ayurveda, small, grounded steps are not a dismissal of the fire. They are how we stay steady within it.

Coming back to Mother Earth, to our meals, to the breath, to the body—this is a form of remembering.
A way of saying: I choose not to abandon myself while the world asks so much of me.

In Pitta season, food becomes a powerful ally when we choose foods like:

🍓 Sweet berries
🥒 Cooling cucumber
🍊 Citrus fruits
🥭 Mango
🥛 Coconut water
🥔 Steamed sweet potatoes

These simple, natural foods help soften the intensity—physically and emotionally.
They calm the digestive fire (Agni) and reduce the inner inflammation that can show up as impatience, irritation, or fatigue.

Im so excited that at the Sadhana Retreat I’m co-hosting with , we’ll explore this deeper in our Ayurvedic cooking class!
In a time that demands so much action, nourishment is strategy.
It’s how we stay clear. How we stay present. How we stay human.

Join us this September at to spend some time in devotion to you, your spirit and your journey. Spend some time with your Sadhana.

Rest is Revolutionary. Nature is the Healer.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how often the world tells us to push harder, stay busy, and stay alert.
But these small moments—barefoot in the grass, sun on my face, my dog quietly resting—remind me of something deeper:

Rest is not weakness. It’s power. It’s presence. It’s revolutionary.

As we move through the Summer Solstice, the Earth is fully alive—yet still knows when to pause in the warmth.
That’s the energy I’m leaning into this season.
Stillness. Softness. Nourishment. Not earned—inherent.

Inspired by the golden energy of Yellow Tara, I invite you to try this mantra with me:

“I receive rest as a right. I reclaim stillness as strength.”

Because the systems we live in don’t make rest easy—especially for those who carry the most.
But rest isn’t a break from the work.
Sometimes, it is the work.

We’re writing today with big hearts and a heavy decision: after much reflection, we’ve made the choice to postpone the Sadhana Retreat in El Salvador.

This decision was not made lightly. Our retreat is rooted in trauma-informed practices and a deep responsibility to hold safe, grounded space for all who join us. In recent weeks, we’ve heard valid concerns from our community—especially immigrants, people of color, and naturalized citizens—about the evolving political climate and increasing tension around international travel, particularly to El Salvador.

We want to be absolutely clear: this is not a statement about El Salvador itself. Our experience there and at has been nothing short of welcoming, warm, and rich with beauty, spirit, and deep cultural exchange. We are endlessly grateful for the people, the land, and the teachings we’ve received there—and we look forward to returning when the timing is right.

But to move forward right now would be to ignore the very values we teach. Safety, stewardship, and attunement to the collective nervous system are cornerstones of this work. And bringing a group into a space that may feel uncertain for some goes against those principles.

So what’s next?

✨ We’re still holding our September dates—and actively searching for a new U.S.-based venue that reflects the same depth, connection, and intention as our original vision.

✨ Stay tuned—an announcement is coming soon!

Thank you for walking this path with us—with flexibility, faith, and a shared commitment to doing this work in the right way. We’re so grateful for you.

With love and clarity,
Aashish & Arianna

Day 3.
More and more, I am glad of visiting mizata in El Salvador as they know how to cater to the yoga community.

Amazing warm friendly people who get humanity. It shows in every person that works here, from the gardeners, property maintenance folks, restaurant team (amazing chefs), to the retreat teams.
The meditation and asana areas are so peaceful and tranquil.

Joined one of the tours from Mizata to Ruta de las Flores, a visit to local towns taking in the local culture. Amazing food.
More to come…
