In the new year, I always struggle with making goals.
Goals quickly turn into expectations—and as an adoptee, expectations often bring anxiety. Anxiety about not meeting them. Anxiety about not living up to what I think I should be doing.

Lately, I’ve been journaling as a way to listen instead of plan.
Letting things stay unclear.
Letting myself soften without needing all the answers.

BIPOC adoptees—if this resonates, I invite you to begin the new year with more tenderness toward yourself.
truebelonging and I welcome you to a mini New Year retreat: Rise in Radical Softness is one way to step into that—through reflection, gentle movement, and space to simply be! 💛

As adoptees, many of us learned early to adapt, perform, and compete with ourselves just to belong.
That constant pressure to “get it right” can live quietly in the body.

Rise in Radical Softness is an invitation to begin the year differently.
To slow down.
To listen inward.
To honor what you need—not what’s expected of you.
This New Year’s retreat offers gentle yoga, nervous system care, guided reflection, and space to simply be—without fixing, forcing, or fighting who you are.
✨ In person & online
✨ Hosted by .truebelonging & Me!
✨ A space for rest, presence, and embodied connection

Come as you are. That’s enough.

Feeling so grateful for Sun Mee (.truebelonging) and this heartfelt reflection on the BIPOC Adoptee Yoga Circle 🤍

I’ve been supported by her work in my own adoption journey, and it felt incredibly meaningful, and full circle, to offer that care back to her and to our community!

What makes this even MORE special…

✨ I’m so excited to be collaborating with .truebelonging to facilitate “Rise in Radical Softness” — A Mini Retreat for BIPOC Adoptees.
This afternoon gathering is an invitation to slow down and explore regulation tools, mindful movement, and guided gentle reflection.

As we move into the new year, we’ll support one another in softness, connection, and belonging. 💛

Hi all — still gently easing into the new year, as the holidays did me in 😅.

I almost didn’t share my top memories from 2025 because I’m a bit “late” to the game. But why only celebrate wins once a year? So f*ck it — I’m celebrating anyway 😜:

✨ Facilitated a yoga circle at the Conference (Portland)
✨ Made space outside of work to travel to new places like: Guatemala + Mexico
✨ Took more time to see sunsets and soak in nature
✨ Continued building my private OT + yoga practice (peep the beautiful rooftop view from a client session!)
✨ Grew my online + in-person BIPOC adoptee yoga community
✨ Built deeper adoptee friendships and connected more to my Chinese culture
✨ Led monthly yoga classes for Dysautonomia + taught a fatigue management webinar through
✨ Created a sustainable morning routine!
These wins matter. I’m allowed to be proud of myself — and I hope you celebrate yours too, big or small.
Excited to see what 2026 brings 🤍

The holidays can get a little overwhelming — all the noise, expectations, and nonstop movement.

When someone says “just relax” or “take a deep breath,” that can actually feel really hard for some folks. Focusing on the breath can sometimes draw too much attention inward and end up feeling aggravating instead of calming.

Here’s a gentle alternative to help settle your nervous system:
External focus breathing — giving your brain something outside of yourself to orient to, instead of spinning inward.

Cocoa Breaths 🤎
• Hold a mug of cocoa — or imagine holding one
• Smell it as you inhale through your nose
• Slowly exhale through your mouth, like you’re cooling it down
• Repeat as many times as you like

The warmth, scent, and slow exhale help signal safety and grounding to your body.

Happy holidays 🤍
May you find moments of warmth, rest, and ease.

✨ If you’d like more nervous-system-supportive strategies, I offer private OT and yoga sessions to support regulation and calm during the holidays. DM me for more info

Healers need healing too 🤍
This time of year can get so busy, and I definitely feel it. I love holding space for others—it’s why I do what I do!—but I also know how important it is to have space held for me too.
This month that looked like joining ’s transracial adoptee meeting, having a potluck with fellow BIPOC adoptees, and carving out time today to journal, reflect, and move mindfully with .truebelonging . All of that helps me slow down and come back to myself.

Just a little reminder (for me too): rest and care is just as meaningful as showing up for others—especially during the holidays. Hope you’re finding ways to take care of yourself. 💛

For adoptees, the holidays can be a lot.
They can bring up joy, sadness, longing, and love—all at the same time.
You don’t have to choose which emotions to feel. All of them are valid!

Give yourself space to feel the things.
Maybe that looks like:
• Taking a break from family
• A quiet walk
• Time for journaling
• Sipping warm tea and reflecting 🤍

Adoptees, I see you.
Give yourself some care today ❤️🎄
