Spent my birthday at my favorite place- in Maine at my family cottage!☀️🛶

As an adoptee, birthdays have always brought up so many things- They bring sadness, questions, and reminders that are hard to escape. Some years I celebrate with joy, other years I let the day pass quietly—like I don’t deserve it. Lately, I’ve been learning to honor my existence in ways that feel meaningful to me.

This year, that meant the gift of time—6 days unplugged. No phone, no IG. Just sun, rest, and being present with family and friends.

However you spend your birthday, know this: it’s okay to feel it all. 💛

Still finding it hard to put into words what the Conference means to me. For so long I felt like I didn’t really belong—even surrounded by love, there was still that loneliness.

This weekend was different. Joy, sadness, anger, laughter—all of it—shared with people who truly get it.

So much love to everyone who joined the BIPOC Adoptee Yoga Circle. Thank you for letting me share my truth and for letting me hold space for yours. 💛

Truth💣 : Even if you’re doing something you love… it’s okay to need a break from it! For the past year, I have worked a ton to cultivate a dream profession through OT and yoga working with individuals with neurological conditions, teaching yoga to my community as well as finding a path towards supporting the adoptees. I feel SO grateful for the things I get to do on a daily basis- and makes me sometimes feel guilty to admit when I feel burnt out.

I just got back from a vacation in Japan, and having time away from my phone, emails and social media has been such a great reset for me! By taking time away from work, it allows me to change my perspective from the daily grind/habits/routines as well as gives my brain and body a much needed rest. The more I can give back to myself, the more I can give to others.

For those like me who are passionate about the work they’re doing- it can be hard to remind yourself we all deserve that time for ourselves, but I hope you can find the time to take it! 🔆
