To create the most effective workout, make sure your fitness goals are defined and measurable. If you’re looking to lose weight? strength training should be your main focus over cardio any day. The more muscle you have, the more energy and more calories you're going to burn while resting.
When you're performing cardio, let’s say you're on the treadmill, you run for 30 minutes and you burn 300 cal. well that's all you're going to burn.
When you weight train, the goal is to tear the muscle fibers down so that it builds bigger muscle through rest and recovery. While that process is happening, you're actually burning energy, you're burning calories. If you lift every other day, your body is constantly burning calories plus the more muscle you have the more of your body is going to burn while you’re resting.
The point is to focus on weight training and sprinkle in a little cardio you'll see much more results.
