I love putting spinach in my smoothies. I don't much like it raw, but I love it cooked. It's one of those green leafy vegetables that is good for us. Did you know that spinach is a native plant of Persia (modern day Iran)? It was introduced to China in the 7th century and was most probably brought to Europe in about the 12th century and to the US in 1806. Spinach grows best in cool (not freezing) moist conditions, such as spring and autumn, and grows well in sandy soils. There are many varieties of spinach, though they mostly fall into three distinct groups: Savoy (Dark green, crinkly and curly leaves. Commonly found in supermarkets.), Flat/smooth leaf spinach (Most commonly used for canned and processed spinach products, though “baby spinach” also fits in this group. Easier to wash and clean than Savoy.), and Semi-savoy (Hybrid variety with slightly crinkled leaves. It has the same texture as savoy, but it is not as difficult to clean.). So, you learned a little bit about spinach and so did I. Eat it, it's good for you and if you don't like the taste, put it in your smoothy.

DEFINITION: The smell of something yummy delicious cooking, the flavorful scent of having a wonderful time.

To smell or not to smell, that is the question! When we smell the aroma of something aromatically pleasing, we feel a sense of well-being, that everything is okay. How about smelling an apple pie or chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven? That will bring up a sense of yummy, for sure, maybe even a pleasant memory of when you were a child. In the Stanislavsky Method of Acting (Method Acting), Stanislavsky tells us that we can use our sense memory (that never goes away), and that when we bring up a smell that brought a sense of pleasure when we were kids, we can feel that emotion NOW, just by tapping into the smell. Isn't that cool? If you're feeling blue for any reason, think of a smell that makes you happy and imagine you smelling it. Your sense memory will kick in and you'll feel pretty darn good. Try it on. It's a great experience/experiment.
