It was a true privilege to be invited by Professor Yixin Zhang as a faculty speaker at The 18th International Congress of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Shanghai. I learned a great deal and had the opportunity to share my work with some of the best plastic surgeons on the planet.

I also visited Ninth People's Hospital in Shanghai where Professor Zhang is Chief of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He leads a talented group of surgeons who take care of the most challenging reconstructive problems in China if not the world.

Lastly, it was great to catch up with some of my plastic surgery mentors including Dr. W.P. Andrew Lee (EVP, Provost & Dean at UT Southwestern) and Dr. David Chang (Chief, Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at U. of Chicago). I also was pleased to see friends such as Dr. Lifei Guo (Chair, Dept. of Plastic Surgery at Lahey Clinic) and meet new international colleagues such as Dr. Marco Innocenti, (Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Careggi University Hospital in Florence).
