I was so pleased when David Romano agreed to have a conversation with me. I truly appreciate his story and I know it will resonate with so many people.

Just because your kids might look ok does not mean that they are in fact ok.

The popular student and multi-sport athlete tried to maintain his outward image as the fun, goofy kid, and used sports and other activities to cover his inner struggle.

David Romano is a clinician and a professional mental health speaker from Active Minds. His story gives hope a voice.

What a pleasure getting to know this good doctor! I am so pleased to welcome:

Dr. Jennifer Mullan, founder of Decolonizing Therapy, wrote the book, Decolonizing Therapy: Oppression, Historical Trauma & Politicizing Your Practice,” and is lovingly called “The Rage Doctor”. Dr. Mullan grew up in the inner city and says that she owes her survival to therapy even though the system was deeply flawed. She knew then that change had to come and that’s when she began her journey to decolonizing therapy and writing a book about it. Dr. Mullan says:

“Rage, I believe, is the love child of ancestral trauma and all different types of trauma, shame, and the kind of grief we're not allowed to talk about, that disenfranchised, suffocated grief.”

Today, we celebrate George Floyd's 50th birthday by honoring his memory and the strength of his family. Known affectionately as a "gentle giant" with an infectious smile by those who loved him, his vicious murder elevated a growing movement demanding an immediate end to the violence of policing.

In your honor, we will continue to work to build a world without policing and prisons—a world where you would still be with us today.

We also send love and appreciation to his family, who endure another day without George Floyd.

Eric and I have known each for an important period of time. We exchange important conversations and challenge each other in different ways so I was excited for this interview and it did not disappoint.

Please welcome FitzMedrud, Ph.D. to Change the Narrative with JD Fuller:

Dr. Eric FitzMedrud is a culturally aware clinician, trainer, speaker, podcast guest, author and a licensed psychologist. He specializes in evidence-based practices that include sex-positive wisdom and celebrating the joys of pleasure. Eric’s new book is The Better Man, A Guide to Consent, Stronger relationships and Better S*x.

“If there isn't heart connection, if there isn't an ability to regulate conflict, if there isn't a lot of other capacity for relationship and self-soothing, then showing up vibrantly and energetically sexually becomes impossible.”

“it's so important to understand that it's a loss for men when they subscribe to a patriarchal culture as well.”

You want to know who should be president? Qasim Rashid should but for now let’s get him elected to congress!

https://rb.gy/2jdn8

“If you wanna talk to me about your values, show me your actions and service to humanity, “

Qasim’s parents, who were both teachers, instilled in him a deep commitment of service to humanity and upholding justice. Throughout his legal career, Qasim has seen how the country’s laws and systems unfairly worked for those who already had money and power and left everyone else behind. He’s running for Congress to demand justice and ensure that the government works for everyone.

Sticks and Stones Break Your Bones but Words Hurt Your Brain

There's overlap in how the brain processes physical and emotional pain.

“The most important takeaway for me is that this is another example of research clearly demonstrating the fallacy of separating the brain from the body. Humans, like all animals, are integrated, holistic beings. We can easily see a broken bone and infer the real extreme pain that the person must be experiencing. It's critical to realize that the injuries and pain that a person might have from social experiences are also real.”
