This child needed more stimulation to stay focused - so our RBT incorporated puzzles into the session.
While he stayed engaged with the puzzle, our RBT used the opportunity to target tacting goals and build functional communication by asking simple, direct questions like:
🧩 “What’s your name?”
🧩 “What’s Dad’s name?”
🧩 “Is this a boat?”
🧩 “Is this Peppa?”
🧩 “Is that her grandpa?”
The puzzle kept the child’s hands and eyes busy, allowing space for language, attention, and meaningful conversation to develop naturally.
This kind of play-based strategy is key for kids who need a little more sensory input or structured engagement to participate. It helps bridge the gap between focus and communication - and makes learning feel fun, not forced.
