Shame is one of the stickiest emotions. That’s because shame attaches itself to identity.
Many of us are carrying shame that isn’t even ours. It has been passed down through generations as inherited beliefs, stories, wounds, expectations, and experiences we unknowingly took on as our own.
Shame feeds on secrecy, silence, and concealment.
Shame doesn’t say:
“You made a mistake.”
Shame says:
“YOU are the mistake.”
That’s what makes it so sticky.
Shame says:
“YOU are your mistakes.”
“YOU are your experiences.”
“YOU are your circumstances.”
It whispers:
“People will leave if they find out who I really am.”
“I am too much.”
“I am not enough.”
“I am unworthy of love.”
But this is not Truth.
What stays in the dark, grows in the dark.
Shame grows in the dark, but healing happens in the light.
When shame is brought into the light, it loses its power. Not because you suddenly become perfect, but because you realize you were never what shame told you that you were.
You are not your mistakes.
You are not your circumstances.
You are not your past.
You are not broken.
You are worthy.
You are loved.
You are whole.
Bring it into the light.
Love can reach the places shame never could.
I love you ❤️
