Hard isn’t the same thing as bad. Labor pains aren’t something to be avoided - they’re a part of God’s design. It’s a productive pain that produces endurance and brings your baby into your arms. Labor pains are natural, they are GOOD, even though they are hard.

DADS, LISTEN UP

Labor isn’t just about a mom and her body — it’s about the two of you walking into this journey together. Corny? Maybe. Keep reading.
Because your marriage matters. This upcoming labor/birth is NOT just about mom and baby. Nope. I want mom to walk away from this birth with all the heart eyes falling in love with you all over again. Crazy right? But it’s possible! Because when you are the best support person in the world she feels like she’s safe, she can trust you, and she will feel reassured you aren’t going anywhere. (and honestly, after all she’s been through the last nine months, supporting her well is the absolute least you can do!) BUT HERE’S THE KICKER.... it’s completely unfair for any woman to expect that of her husband 😬 You are not birth expert.
That’s why you hire a birth expert with a PASSION for helping mom and dad bond in labor so you feel connected and like the strongest team as you go into that sleepless newborn season. Because your precious sleep deprived wife nursing a newborn in the middle of the night doesn’t need to be remembering how you slept her entire labor. She doesn’t need resentment postpartum, she needs to feel loved and taken care of.

SO HIRE ME! Let me help you prepare. Let me help you help her and set yourselves up for success relationally.

Postpartum isn’t meant to be walked alone. 🤍
From the first chapters of Scripture, we see that God designed us for connection. He walked in the garden with Adam and Eve and created them for each other. Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also one of the most vulnerable seasons of life. We need community to hold us, feed us, pray for us, and remind us of the truth when we’re weary.
Galatians 6:2 says: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
That includes showing up for postpartum moms. 🙌
Here’s why community matters for recovery:
🌿 It supports your healing.
🌿 It lightens the load when things feel heavy.
🌿 It helps both mama and baby thrive.
🌿 It reflects Christ’s love in action.
✨ You were never meant to do this life alone — especially not postpartum.

Prepping for postpartum is CRUCIAL to thriving in early days of motherhood. You hear moms say they barely survived those newborn days - but I’m here to tell you it’s actually possible to enjoy it, thrive in it, and then miss it terribly.
Freezer Meals are one of the ways to do this!

With every pregnancy came hours of looking at Pinterest trying to find good recipes that actually sounded good… then came some postpartum nutrition education and I realized most of those recipes don’t actually support our bodies in healing or set our hormones up for success.

Last summer I spent my postpartum season eating delicious food, not stressing about what to eat when I was nursing my sweet newborn. I was focused on bonding and snuggling BECAUSE I had prepared well.

I want you to do the same!! I created a Freezer Meal Guide, specific for postpartum moms to help you prepare for the season ahead and make those newborn days a bit smoother 🥰 Currently on sale through my website, Toriemann.com/onlineoffers

Check it out and give me some feedback when you make those recipes!

The world tells us to repeat affirmations like “I am powerful” or “I am enough.”
But the truth is-when the contractions hit hard, when exhaustion sets in, and when fear starts whispering-those words can crumble. They crumble in labor and they crumble in everyday life. These affirmations aren’t rooted in anything firm, secure, or anything true.
Worldly affirmations rely on your strength alone. But labor was never meant to be carried in your strength. It was designed to be carried in His strength.
That’s why rooting your birth affirmations in the Scripture matters. God’s Word is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), and it doesn’t fail when things get hard.
Instead of “I am powerful,” you can declare:
• “The Lord is my strength and my song” (Exodus 15:2).
Instead of “I am enough” because without Him we are nothing.
• “His grace is sufficient for me, for His power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
When truth is spoken over your labor, you aren’t just reciting words-you’re standing on promises that cannot be shaken.

"How experienced are you with positioning during labor?”

Here’s the truth: many doula training programs offer only basic knowledge of labor positions—and even less on how to use them to actually progress labor and relieve pain.
But positioning is crucial for:
✅ Opening the pelvis
✅ Helping baby descend
✅ Shortening labor
✅ Reducing pain naturally
✅ Avoiding unnecessary interventions
All important things that we as doulas WANT for our clients, and we as moms should WANT for ourselves!
So as you interview doulas, don't be afraid to ask. Does she actually know positioning techniques to help you progress through labor? Because reality is, many don’t.
The most effective doulas are the ones who’ve gone beyond their initial training—investing in continuing education, in fetal positioning, and hands-on techniques to truly support the birthing body and mind.
As a faith-based, holistic doula, I bring both evidence-based tools and a heart rooted in the Gospel—because I believe labor can be both sacred and strategic.
Ask the hard questions. Your birth deserves the best support.

I've personally moved my clients into different positions to get baby's heart-rate to sound better when nurses were saying a csection was on the horizon, and other clients are pushing babies out within 15 minutes of a hard position change. I always ask my clients, do you want to put in the work and make it harder for shorter? Or let it stay the same and drag it out longer? -- Most moms want it over quicker, (who can blame them!) and are willing to put in the hard work of changing positions and listening to my suggestions. But I didn't learn ANY of this in my initial doula training program I did three years ago!

Experienced moms, were there any labor positions you tried in labor? If you had a doula, did she suggest any positions for you?

Let’s talk about prodromal labor.
It’s not talked about enough—and it can be super confusing, especially for first-time moms.
Prodromal labor contractions start and feel real… but they don’t progress into active labor (yet).
They can last for hours—even days—and then stop. 😅
Here’s the thing:
It’s not “false” labor, it’s not pointless — your body is preparing! Strengthening that muscle for the big day it’s got to do a big job.
It’s common! First time moms, multip moms or just anytime baby is in a tricky position.
It’s exhausting, but not a sign something’s wrong.
It’s your body warming up for the big day.

If you experience prodromal labor, rest when you can, hydrate(!!!!), eat, and try not to time every contraction…. seriously—it’ll just wear you out mentally and emotionally. And the mental and emotional stamina is the most important part for labor.

And remember: just like birth, waiting doesn’t mean God isn’t working.
He’s preparing you—in body and in mind—for what’s to come. Trust the process, and trust the One who designed it. ✨

When a mom hires you for baby #6 — and says it’s her best birth experience of all?!?! The Lord has blessed me with the BEST clients and reviews like these bring tears to my eyes every time I get them. The Lord’s hand of goodness and kindness is shown all over these births and I get to be a tool He is using to carry out His loving plan.
To my clients, thank you for welcoming me into your birth space, inviting me to walk the journey with you, holding your hand (and your hips!) through the contractions. I’m honored to be trusted by you. Praising God for your beautiful births and all those precious babies.
— now y’all do me a favor and go make more babies so we can do it all again! 🔥🎉

Eight years ago this young single girl bought a jeep.
Little did she know the adventures it would hold. She would drive the streets of louisville with the windows down and sunroof open… and more than once leave her sunroof open overnight and fill it with rain water 😬 or how this would be the car she and her future husband would take to shop for engagement rings. She never imagined that this car would drive her to prenatal appointments and pick up all the pregnancy craving treats. Then it would be the car where she birthed her first baby. The backseat, where she sat as she held her daughter, looked into her eyes, and heard her cries for the first time.
That jeep-born daughter is five years old now, the jeep is long gone, and that young single girl is long gone too.
I will always remember my 2007 Jeep compass fondly. The Lord has used that car, and that birth, to make me who I am today. Praise the Lord for sanctification, growth, and His sovereignty over it all.

Hey mama—don’t forget to snap the photos.
Take the videos. Record the little things. Tiny details.
The way their feet are barely the size of your thumb.
That scrunchy newborn stretch.
The way they make that squeaky noise when they yawn.
You think you’ll remember it all, but trust me… it fades faster than you expect.
So grab your phone—even if the house is messy or you’re still in pajamas.
These are the moments you’ll want to look back on.
The Lord gave you today, TODAY MAMA. your baby will never be smaller than they are right now, they only keep growing. Slow down. SEE them and their little personalities and details that make them who they are today. I promise the hardness of this season will pass. Remember the good. Choose to see the good today. And take a picture of it.
