My last visit to my doctor was nothing but a rude awakening to the potential risks that I was putting myself at due to my weight. I am a 5’7” 38-year-old woman and mother of two handsome boys. Currently I weigh 228 lbs.
Of course, I know I am still overweight, but at least I can now smile about it. In the last 3 and a half months, I’ve lost 43 lbs., and the journey is still continuing.
This comes with a number of sacrifices but it is one I’ll gladly make to see my sons grow up into men and to see my grandkids someday.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always made excuses for my weight and never done anything to improve it. The COVID situation in 2020 did not help much because I now didn’t have to leave my house much since I worked from home.
This meant that I was free to take any snack I wanted at any time of the day without looking over my shoulder for my boss. Between 2020 and July 2022, I racked up over 90 lbs. and weighed 271 lbs.
Visiting my doctor when I did was the best decision I have made so far. Upon doing some tests, my doctor couldn’t reiterate enough on how I needed to lose weight and lose it fast. He said that, “At this rate Perry, you are either going to have diabetes or a heart attack in a year or two.”
This shook me to the core. My oldest son is only 12 years old. I had to cut down on all the carbs I’ve been eating and loving since I was 8.
However, that wasn’t working, after a month and a half of a keto diet with no carbs and walking for up to 30 minutes daily, I had lost only 2 pounds. I felt like giving up, but I couldn’t afford to. There was too much at stake at this time.
With renewed vigour, I got onto the internet to find solutions. At one point, I even considered liposuction, but many people especially my mom, advised me against it.
It wasn’t until late mid November that I came across a “30 sec. Ice-Hack for Weight Loss” video on Tiktok and decided to give it a try despite all my instincts telling me no.
Today, I am glad I did not let my instincts drive me on this one. Fast forward to 3 and a half months later, and I now feel more energized and confident than ever.
I am still following a low-carb diet and walking for 30 min every day, but thanks to this hack, I am back on track.
Today, I am able to walk my youngest son to school every day and walk to work. I can remember feeling this light and free in my life. My desired weight at the moment is 180 lbs., and I am only 58 lbs. from achieving it.
