Our hearts are with all those affected by last night’s tragic plane crash in Louisville. The American Lung Association in Kentucky extends our deepest sympathies to the victims, their families, and all impacted members of the community.

We recommend monitoring Louisville Metro Emergency Services for official state guidance and the most current information as this situation continues to develop.

We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to support our community as appropriate in the days ahead.

Thank you,
Your Kentucky Team

The 2024–2025 Impact Report is here!

The American Lung Association in Kentucky is proud to share the progress, milestones, and impact made possible thanks to our incredible volunteers, advocates, and supporters across the Bluegrass.

Here’s how your support is helping Kentuckians breathe easier:
• Groundbreaking research funded by the American Lung Association is happening right here at the University of Louisville, advancing discoveries in lung cancer.
• 240 new Vape-Free Schools Initiative facilitators trained to protect Kentucky youth
• Hundreds of Kentuckians received direct support through the Lung HelpLine, Lung Health Navigator, and local education programs
• Community Connections Education Series launched statewide to help Kentuckians learn strategies to improve lung health and treatment — the inaugural session focused on lung cancer screening, prevention, and early detection.
• Over $250,000 raised across major events — including more than $100,000 at the Fight for Air Climb and nearly $150,000 at the Derby Gala
• 250+ climbers took on Lynn Family Stadium for lung health
• Senate Bill 100 PASSED! — requiring ni****ne retailers to be licensed, helping protect Kentucky’s kids from addiction
• Dozens of new facilitators trained across the state through Freedom From Smoking, INDEPTH, and Open Airways for Schools programs

Together, we’re creating a future free from lung disease through research, education, advocacy, and community support.

🌬 Celebrating Leadership in Lung Health! 🌬

We are so proud of our Kentucky Local Leadership Board Vice Chair, Dr. Sonia Compton, whose inspiring article “Breathing Room: Advocacy in Pulmonary Care” was published this week in the Greater Louisville Medical Society’s Louisville Medicine Magazine.

In her piece, Dr. Compton beautifully explores what it means to be a true advocate—both inside and outside the clinic. From empowering patients through education and community programs to championing collaboration with the American Lung Association, her words remind us that advocacy isn’t just about policy—it’s about compassion, connection, and action. 💙

👏 Please join us in congratulating Dr. Compton for her leadership and dedication to improving lung health across Kentucky!
