This is just so special I have to repost! It's in my bio on my square site. I've been receiving gorgeous, healing, life changing massage therapy at Z for over 20 years, and to this day, I still go every 4 weeks! My healing massage home. A few weeks ago, my pastor talked about loving your neighbor as yourself. He very specifically pointed out that the Bible does NOT say, "Love your neighbor *but not* yourself", or "Love your neighbor *before* yourself", or "Love your neighbor *more than* yourself." God's word says, "Love your neighbor AS YOURSELF." (Leviticus 19:18)- meaning you are to love yourself first, care and protect yourself first. He used the example of the oxygen mask, which is one of my favorite examples.
I have said this a million times:
"Put YOUR oxygen mask on FIRST, because you are of absolutely NO help to anyone if you're passed out." I'm grateful to have Scripture to back this up. Self care does not just entail massage therapy, and it doesn't even have to entail massage therapy, but it does mean that you have to take care of yourself- and to take care of yourself FIRST. Take care of yourself first so you can be the very best version of yourself for yourself, your kids, your spouse, your neighbor, your clients, and yes, for God.
