She has 3 boys of her own, a bonus son who lives with her full time, a bonus daughter who lives in Midland, and she is currently pregnant with her final addition due in February 2023 (that will make 5 in her home, and 6 total!). She became a childbirth doula after she hired a doula for her third hospital birth. Her exp

erience was the most beautiful delivery, and she felt like she missed out during her first two births. Now, she wants to help other mommas feel as loved and supported as she did, during one of the most unforgettable experiences of their lives.

👀Textbook says transition is 7–10 cm
and usually lasts 2–4 hours…

But this mom was 3 cm
and had her baby 2 hours later! 🤯🔥

So what’s going on??

💕DILATION (the opening)
Think like a scrunchie stretching open
• 0 cm = closed
• 10 cm = fully open

3cm is still considered early 🤍

💕EFFACEMENT (the thinning)
Think like a thick turtleneck → rolled down to nothing
0% = thick
50% = half way
100% = paper thin

👉 A cervix that’s 100% effaced is ready to open much more quickly than 60% or less.

💕STATION (how low baby is)
Think how baby is moving down the pelvis
-3 = high
0 = mid-pelvis
+3 = crowning

👉 +2 = baby is RIGHT there!

✨So this mom wasn’t “just 3 cm.”✨

She was:
✨ fully thinned
✨ baby super low
✨ contractions intense and close together

Her body was already in GO mode 🔥

So 3cm sounds like we have a long way to go, but in real life ➡️

We knew baby was coming by:
⭐️intensity (compared to previous contractions, these were clearly stronger)
⭐️”I can’t do this much longer”
⭐️short sentences and still uncomfortable in between contractions

So if you ever hear a number and feel discouraged…
remember to ask for station and effacement too!

Depending on your contractions, might be way closer than you think. 💪🎉👏

Follow for empowering childbirth education without the fear 💕

Happy Birthday to me 🫠

Throw back to 2 years ago when my husband gave a whole new meaning to dirty 30 🐐

If you’ve ever gone down a pregnancy rabbit hole and left more confused than when you started… this is for you 🤍

Because it’s not just cord clamping 👇

One person says wait for spontaneous labor
Another says induce at 39 weeks

One person says avoid the epidural at all costs
Another says get it early so you don’t “miss your window”

One person says push on your back
Another says never push on your back for any reason ever

One person says continuous monitoring is safest
Another says it increases interventions

One person says “just trust your doctor”
Another says “question everything”

Like… what are you supposed to do with all of that? 😅

Here’s the truth:

Different advice doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.

It usually means there’s a range of safe options — and no one has taken the time to help you figure out what’s best for YOU.

You don’t need more opinions.
You need clarity, education, and support so you can walk into your birth feeling confident in your decisions 🤍

That’s exactly what we do at Magnolia.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, come sit down with us for a free consult. We’ll walk through YOUR options, not just throw more information at you.

Then we’ll back you up and cheer you on 110% no matter what you choose 💕

Meet the Magnolia Births team… baby version 👶🌸

The same girls who now:
✨ answer your “is this labor??” texts at 2am
✨ help you avoid unnecessary interventions
✨ pray over you through contractions
✨ support your partner

✨ and celebrate the moment you meet your baby

At Magnolia, we never take it lightly that you’ve trusted us with your care. That’s why we work together, continue learning, and pour our hearts into YOU.

Our doulas participate in twice-monthly team education (a Magnolia Monthly Zoom call and a Magnolia Lunch & Learn), plus yearly continuing education.

Because these ⬆️ babies are dedicated to caring for you from your first pregnancy test through all of postpartum 💕

Baby #100 🤍

Yesterday we welcomed our 100th Magnolia baby into the world.

One hundred babies.
One hundred moms.
One hundred families who trusted us in one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of their lives.

What an incredible honor.

For 100 babies, we have stood in hospital rooms, birth centers, and homes — supporting labor progression, protecting mom and dad’s blissful baby bubble, advocating for informed decisions, loving moms wholeheartedly, and helping ensure moms and babies remained safe, steady, and supported every step of the way.

We’ve answered the 2am texts.
We’ve steadied shaking hands.
We’ve helped partners feel like superheroes.
We’ve created space for moms to trust their bodies, follow their intuition, and ask for help when needed.
We’ve celebrated first cries and cried together when we got healthy AND happy moms and babies.
We’ve shown up for the whole story.

When I first opened Magnolia I prayed that if I could just serve one mom, all the hard work, dedication, vulnerability, and bold steps the Lord was asking of me would be worth it.

Now we’ve served 100.

What makes this milestone meaningful isn’t the number.

It’s the individual stories.
The brave women.
The strong partners.
The tiny cries that changed everything.

To every family who has invited us into their story — thank you. We do not take it lightly.

Here’s to 100!!! 🎉🎉🎉 and all the beautiful beginnings still to come 🤍

*Mom and baby are safe and happy and are already snuggled up back at home. Mom has given permission to share these sweet celebratory photos!

Have you heard of a ni**le shield before? 👀

If you haven’t — today’s the day.

It’s a thin silicone cover that goes over your ni**le while baby nurses. Simple.

It can be really helpful for:
• Flat or inverted ni**les
• Baby struggling to latch
• Preemies who need a firmer surface
• Severe ni**le pain or damage ❤️‍🩹
• Transitioning from bottle back to breast

They’re not meant to be a forever solution.

They’re a short-term, INCREDIBLE tool — best used with guidance from your favorite IBCLC (the highest level breastfeeding expert 🙌🏼 - like

Now let’s talk pumping on-the-go 👇

Ceres Chill might be my new favorite baby registry add 🎉

Target run? Bring it.
Lunch plans? Bring it.
Between work meetings? Road trip? Yes and yes.

You can add ice and it keeps milk cold for up to 20 hours — without hauling a giant cooler around.

And I love that it came with clear safety instructions for how long breastmilk is good for in the container. Because safe storage matters just as much as pumping. 👏

Check them out

If you’re planning to breastfeed, save this 🤍

And if you’ve used a ni**le shield before — tell me your experience. They’re way more common (and helpful) than people realize. 💕💕

Now Hiring: Farmers Market Specialist

Magnolia Births | Lubbock, TX

Magnolia Births is looking for a warm, outgoing, and dependable Farmers Market Specialist to represent our doula team at the Lubbock Farmers Market. This role is perfect for someone who loves connecting with moms, talking about birth, and helping families find support.

You’ll be the friendly face of Magnolia — welcoming families, sharing what we do, offering free gifts, and scheduling consultations with expecting moms.

Schedule + Commitment

Magnolia is looking to participate in the farmers market twice weekly:
• Saturdays | 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• Sundays | 3:00 PM – 7:30 PM

We are looking for one consistent specialist who can commit to working at least 4 markets per month, including at least 2 Saturday markets monthly.

Additional shifts are welcome for anyone who wants to work more often.

Pay
• $100 per market worked
• Cookie stipend (for bringing fresh cookies each week)
• $10 bonus for every consultation scheduled

Family-Friendly Role

At Magnolia, we love being moms while caring for other moms.
1–2 children may stay with you as needed, as long as the booth remains welcoming, professional, and fully supported.

Responsibilities
• Arrive on time and run the Magnolia booth during market hours
• Bring cookies each week (store-bought or homemade) to offer visitors
• Complete the full booth setup upon arrival
• All supplies will be provided and ready at the market
• You will be responsible for setting everything up independently
• Greet families and create a warm, upbeat booth environment
• Speak confidently about Magnolia Births (birth + postpartum doulas, birth photography, labor sitter service)
• Offer free gifts for all pregnant and postpartum moms who stop by
• Encourage expecting moms to sign up for a free consultation
• Collect contact info and schedule consults on-site
• Keep the booth tidy, stocked, and visually beautiful throughout the day
• Represent Magnolia with warmth, professionalism, and positivity
• At the end of the market, pack up all materials neatly and send inventory information to admin as needed

Team Support

You won’t be alone — Magnolia doulas will rotate and join you at the farmers market for support and teamwork as available.
However, we need one consistent specialist who can be the steady presence at the booth each weekend.

What Magnolia Provides
• Fully stocked booth supplies ready at the market
• Free gifts + materials for pregnant and postpartum moms
• Clear talking points and training on how to explain our services
• Scheduling system + support from the Magnolia team
• A fun, meaningful role supporting local moms

Ideal Candidate
• Friendly, confident, and comfortable starting conversations
• Reliable, punctual, and consistent month-to-month
• Passionate about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or women’s health
• Comfortable using a phone/iPad to schedule consultations
• Professional, trustworthy, and aligned with Magnolia’s mission
• Bonus if you have experience in customer service, events, or birth work

Success in This Role Looks Like
- Moms feel welcomed, loved, and encouraged at the booth
- Consultations are consistently scheduled each weekend
- Moms leave feeling confident in doula care, connected to local resources, and empowered in their own strength
