Emily Betancur is a wife, mom, and educated childbirth doula in Lubbock, Texas. She has 3 boys of her own, a bonus son who lives with her full time, a bonus daughter who lives in Midland, and she is currently pregnant with her final addition due in February 2023 (that will make 5 in her home, and 6 total!). She became a childbirth doula after she hired a doula for her third hospital birth. Her exp

erience was the most beautiful delivery, and she felt like she missed out during her first two births. Now, she wants to help other mommas feel as loved and supported as she did, during one of the most unforgettable experiences of their lives.

We’re Barbie-ing… and we’ve got BIG news!

Our team has grown and shifted and we couldn’t be more thrilled!!

We’ve got 8 new faces working hard to get ready to care for moms and families.
Do you recognize any of them??

Here’s a sneak peek of what they’re currently working through to get ready to serve YOU:
• Each doula passed a 3-step interview process and background check
• They’ve trained or are currently training through accredited certification programs—6 with DONA International, 1 with International Doula Institute, and 1 with Birth Beautifully
• All are in the middle of Magnolia’s rigorous 6-week in-house training that ends in an extensive written exam
• They have varying levels of experience—some have already attended births and worked as doulas, while others are just beginning. They must all shadow at least 2 births with a certified doula and complete 3 births on their own to submit for final certification

After completion, they will still have Monthly birth debriefs and advanced trainings, one-on-one coaching sessions, Yearly continuing education requirements, Mentorship, team support, and real-time guidance—from one another, senior doulas, and even with a medical professional as needed.

It’s and this felt like a fun way to celebrate! 🎉

Being a doula is about so much more than birth—it’s about holding space, offering strength, and reminding women that they were made for this.

To every doula out there doing this work—I see you, I love you, and I’m cheering you on. 👏🏼

Let’s share stories! How has a doula impacted you?? 🥹

You wake up feeling crampy but ignore it, thinking it’s just early labor (in MOST cases, it IS early labor).

Then, suddenly, contractions hit back to back, and within minutes, you realize—this baby is coming now. 👶

This is what happens in a precipitous birth—when labor and delivery happen in less than three hours. 💨 It’s fast, intense, and often gives parents little to no time to get to their planned birthplace.

Some moms barely make it through hospital or birth center doors, while others welcome their babies in the car or at home.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, pant through contractions, follow your instincts, and call for help.

You may be wishing for a fast labor, but of course there are pros and cons to everything!!

In this case, there’s nothing you can really do to encourage one way or the other - if baby wants to come quickly, baby will come!

It may feel crazy in the moment, but you’ll have a story to tell for life!!
