🩵💙 late night Azik Update:
So appoiment today went as good as it could have gone. Echo looks beautiful; although his bloodwork showed his hemoglobin, blood count, iron, as well as a few other numbers are down even further than this weekend in the hospital.

Our team believes he may have Parvovirus (Pavo), a rare infection sometimes seen in post-transplant kiddos. Testing is ongoing, and results will take a few days. Right now, we’re focused on keeping him hydrated and nourished, with feedings throughout the day and night.

When Azik feels well, we’d love to take him out for fun activities and simple joys outside the hospital walls. With finances being tight right now, any donation — big or small — will go directly toward making these moments possible and giving him some normalcy and happiness. Every gift helps create special memories for our brave boy. ❤️

Please keep praying, sharing, and standing with us in faith. We love and appreciate every one of you.

Azik Update:
We just got out from seeing the doctors. Since Azik woke up with a 105° fever this morning, and they told us it’s likely going to take a few weeks of work-ups before we find out what’s making him sick.

That means he’ll most likely need more testing, imaging, or hospital care in the days and or weeks ahead.

Please keep praying with us for answers, healing, and strength for Azik. ❤️🙏

Azik Update:
We were so thankful to be discharged this weekend with no fever or vomiting… only for Azik to wake up today with a 105° fever 😩. We know this means something is still going on, even though all the tests so far have come back negative. We need answers.

We’re in clinic now, waiting to hear what the doctors want to do next for Azik. Praying for wisdom, answers, and the right plan forward. Thank you for covering us in prayer. ❤️🙏

Lord, please cover my baby and heal his body. Fever, pain, and infection — leave in Jesus’ name. 🙏 I’m asking you all to join me in prayer and agreement for complete healing and strength for Azik. ❤️

💙🩵 Azik Update:
Rounds this morning went well. We still don’t have a clear answer yet, but they’re giving him another round of antibiotics just to be safe. The plan is for discharge after that dose at 5 p.m.

He’ll also have an echo today to check his heart function and make sure there haven’t been any changes — that’s part of his routine care. We’re praying this visit counts as “the one for the week,” so we don’t have to make another trip back on Monday.

Please pray that all is well, stays well, and that we get some answers. ❤️

Update for tonight:
Azik is being admitted for the night. We still don’t have an exact cause for the fever and vomiting. Thankfully, he’s been able to keep food down today, though his appetite hasn’t been great.

He was started on a general antibiotic, and now they are treating for possible sepsis — just to cover all bases until we know more about what’s going on. We’re praying this is only an overnight stay and that he can be discharged tomorrow.

We really needed our time at home and we miss our family so much, but Azik needs his doctors right now — and we’ll do anything for him. Praying for a short stay and all to clear up!

Hey friends,
After talking with Azik’s doctors this morning, we have to urgently head back to Dallas. Azik spiked a fever out of nowhere yesterday, and things got worse overnight. They want to see him right away, so we’re making the trip back to our “second home” and going straight to the ER.

Please keep us in your prayers — we love and appreciate y’all so much. ❤️

💙 Update on Azik 💙

We are doing well—medically Azik is doing so well 🙌 He’s officially off sternal precautions, which is such a huge milestone! We even got to make a trip back home, and it felt so good to be there.

One small thing to watch: his recent AlloSure test ( Allosure catches rejection before it shows up in reduced kidney function) showed a very small amount. The doctors reassured us it’s nothing to worry about, just something to monitor. Of course, this mama gets nervous—but I know our God has his back, and I’m holding onto faith. 💙

As we prepare for travel back and forth, our biggest need right now is a transport chair. This will make flying, airports, and long hospital visits so much safer and easier for Azik. Along with the chair, we’re also hoping to get 🎧 noise-cancelling headphones, a 📱 tablet, and 📍 AirTags to make travel smoother.

Insurance won’t cover these, so I’m sharing my CashApp and PayPal for anyone who feels led to help us get them in place quickly. Every prayer, gift, and share means the world to us. Thank you for loving Azik and carrying us through this season. 💙

💙 Help Us Support Azik’s Journey 💙

As many of you know, our warrior Azik has been through so much and continues to amaze us every day with his strength. After receiving his GOLDEN heart, we are preparing for the next chapter of his journey. At the end of October, we’ll finally get to move back home God Willing—but his care doesn’t stop there.

🩵 Azik and I will need to fly back and forth to Dallas every two weeks for ongoing checkups and treatments. To make this possible and comfortable for him, we are raising funds to reach a goal of $8,000. To make this possible, we’re hoping to raise funds for two important needs as well as minor but also important needs:

✈️ A transport chair – to make travel and appointments easier and safer for Azik.

🐾 Service dog certification – Azik’s beloved doggie will be trained and certified to be his companion and service dog, traveling with us to provide comfort, stability, and support wherever we go.

🎧 Soundproof headphones & a tablet – to help Azik manage travel days with less stress, giving him comfort, distraction, and peace while we’re on the move.

Every donation, share, or prayer means the world to us. You’re helping carry some of the load and making sure Azik has what he needs to keep thriving. 💙

Thank you for standing with us in this journey—we couldn’t do it without you!

Recovery Update 🩵

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared, but we’re doing well so far! Today is a big day — Azik is having his one-month cath lab procedure, where they check for rejection and make sure everything with his new heart looks strong. 💙

When I think about how far we’ve come, I can’t help but see God’s hand in every step. Every one of Azik’s scars tells the story of a mighty and loving God who has carried us through. 🙌🏽

Prayers are so appreciated as he goes through this today. 🙏🏽 We trust that God is with Azik and with us every step of the way.

Thank you for continuing to cover our family in love and light — it means more than words. 💛

Hey guys,

Checking in. I know it’s been a while and Azik has been doing soo good. We had a birthday on the 24th. Our youngest babe is 6. Mr. August.

Tomorrow is our weekly clinic day and Azik and I don’t feel good. Feels like a cold. Just starting so pray that it doesn’t get worse. Azik is immune compromised of course so please please pray he doesn’t get worse.

We will update since we hit our 1 month mark with his new heart today!

As we are on our way home I am now in the passenger seat and scrolling my phone and I see a sweet girl I follow is seemingly close to passing away from cancer and as I prayed over her and wrote a prayer I couldn’t help but think about our own journey.

It’s never apart of our lives as parents to envision our child sick beyond the typical common flus and colds. However for lots of us we experience a gut wrenching diagnosis that changes us forever. Now that Azik has received his heart and on the mend with all glory to God I want to talk a little more about what this journey looked like and looks like for us.

As you know since this year started we have been dealing with heart failure in our 14yr old non verbal, autistic, developmeal delayed child with cerbeal palsy and epilepsy (who’s 15 now) and those 28 days leading up to him ultimately needing a device to help him live long enough to get a transplant were exceptionally painful. There were days we thought the medication was working and we got hopeful that maybe we could manage this with medication. Well that was short lived; like day to day short lived because he would take a turn from good to bad. He lost almost 20lbs and weighed only 86 lbs when he got his heartmate 3 VAD.

The consultation that led us to knowing he needed a new heart but wasn’t able to because his heart was ao sick was the worst talk I’ve ever had. We got talked to about the possibility of this device not fixing Azik’s heart well enough for him to recover. That would mean we would have had to talk about End of Life care. That 3 month timeline was all we had. We needed him to get stronger and better with this VAD or else we would lose him. I couldn’t hear what was discussed after that. They talked and I saw their mouths moving but I was numb and frozen. I wanted to run away and take Azik with me. The thought of HIM not making it out of that hospital wasn’t on my mind. He was a strong kid. My heart broke even more than I thought it possible. I remember calling my mom and crying to her, telling her what they told me. Remembering her saying while crying “no, no, no… that can’t happen and won’t happen. God is going to give us a miracle.” Still numb and crying I knew she was right. My flesh was hurting but my spirit knew Azik was going to get through this no matter how difficult it was because he’s truly the strongest person I’ve ever known.

Wouldn’t you believe it this boy only needed ONE VAD and came out swinging and sprinting this race of healing. God covered Azik better that I could have imagined or wished for. And our journey of healing and waiting for a new heart was a good one. Not easy but he was such a warrior. And GOD SHOWED US WHY HE IS THE ULTIMATE HEALER. After being listed for only 48 hours on the donor list he received the call that he was getting his heart.

God is so good all the time and even when we can see the good or the why we have to have faith that it’s all for his glory. So while we are grateful for his healing and new heart we also pray for those who aren’t as fortunate. May the miracle worker bless those who need it. And if it’s in His will may they be healed and able to tell their testimony. And if not may those who lost their earthly battle rejoice with Him in the best place they could end up. Seeing Jesus face to face and being in peace.

So father God please be near to us. Heal and love those who love you. Azik Strong forever!

💙 Going home…Kinda

🚙 Hoping to make it home this weekend to drop off the family before heading back to Dallas Tuesday for Azik. We could use a little extra help with travel, and it would mean the world to us. 💙
