If you live in or near the South Plains/Panhandle region of West Texas, and your life has been affected by ALS (as patient, as caregiver, as caring friend or family member), you're in the right place! We started as a small group of patients, families, and therapists with the mission of bringing quality care, support, education, and awareness to the West Texas area. The nearest ALS Specialty clinics are 300+ miles away, which is not always physically and financially feasible for patients on this journey. We continue to encourage ALL patients and families to attend specialty clinics when possible, as we firmly believe a multi-disciplinary approach is crucial. However, we hope to be an additional resource that is available to you locally! The director of The West Texas ALS Support Group is a speech-language pathologist who has experience with ALS. We host monthly support group meetings where we provide education and support. Our monthly meetings are held at 6:00pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Lakeridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock, TX. Participation via Zoom for these meetings is also available! Please email ALSlubbock@gmail.com to request to be added to the monthly meeting reminder email! Our group also hosts a local equipment loaner closet (that is separate from the state loaner closet) to support and aid our members. The West Texas ALS Support Group is a US 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds to further the support we are able to provide families impacted by ALS in the West Texas area! We are happy to correspond with you on Facebook or via email (ALSLubbock@gmail.com) Contact us and we will do our best to help!
