“Imbue” is a verb that means to inspire, permeate & infuse with a particular feeling or quality. Our vision is to offer a safe, welcoming, body-positive place that will “imbue” all who enter with a sense of well being, permeate with good energy, and inspire compassion out in the world. Just by stepping outside our front doors, we can be bombarded by stressors, over-stimulating imagery and plates full of work and activities. Even inside our homes we can be glued to our devices, computers and TVs – constantly filling our minds with concepts and media. We hope to offer a place to unplug and just BE, take a time out from all of that stimulation and connect peacefully with the moment, amongst other people who are also connecting peacefully with the moment. Our broader mission for the community is greater self-acceptance & self-love rippling out to greater acceptance of humanity. That’s a lofty goal, we are well aware! We hope through our programs and community we can encourage more enjoyment, pleasure and peace into your daily life. Regular yoga practice can sometimes bring on a greater sense of curiosity about the universe and the miracles that are our bodies. We hope that our classes help to raise consciousness, empathy and compassion for all beings as well as Increase mindfulness and that sweet sensation of being in the NOW. The tangible results we hope for when a strong community is built are creating a sense of belonging whether in the studio or out in the world. We would like to infuse an inner sweetness and lightness; promote greater, stronger, more balanced energy, and enhance compassion for humans and all beings. On top of all of this, the physical effects of yoga & meditation include: increased flexibility, better sleep, strengthened immune system, increasing grey matter in the brain, promoting focus & concentration, and SO much more!

💜 It feels so good to be together! Next time, slumber party at Modus Locus! Thank you so much for coming out to our Community Care w/ Reverie & The Future yesterday! And striking! And marching! And the 100 clergy getting arrested while praying at the MSP airport! And for keeping your hearts from freezing like most of the government + top 1% has!! Light up your 3rd chakra like a little sun + melt that crusty ice!!

Anyway - gotta promote some work & collaborations - super procrastination on promoting stuff cuz … it’s really freaking distracting around here 😵‍💫

Experience a medium-intensity flowing practice guided by Tara followed by sonic blessings + mantras for peace and compassion performed by Mary Bue. All are welcome - even if you just feel like laying on the floor the whole time + basking in the warm energy of our gathering.

🩷 Received this super super super super sweet gift from my friend Esme this weekend who just turned 9 - Happy Birthday, Sweet One!!! I can’t even with this portrait - I mean, she got my expression perfect!!!!

Creativity flows from us from the start. May it never ever ever ever get squashed, Esme!

Taking a little sad turn on this share ~ Recently someone kinda shamed me for not being a mother. That I’m not as wise as one who has birthed a child and raised a human.

This is a wisdom I won’t ever know. I mean, there’s still time, however I never had a huge drive ~ preferred My Little Ponies to baby dolls, bottles, and diapers. There have been moments … However I’ve always felt … that I am too … drawn to other creative works.

There has been some grief in there … it’s quite a decision to make. And I’m grateful to have the choice to make. Grateful for this life, for all the beautiful things I’ve made. Albums and journals and paintings. Studies and a yoga studio and a yoga school. Trips with amazing humans around the world. Each day is a gift.

A dear friend told me that in teaching and creating I get to be a Mother. A Mother who Creates.

A storm is blowing in right now and I’m sitting in the rain. The drops are falling and the wind is picking up. Adding my tears to the rain.

Prepping for our 12 week virtual course that begins today, “Embodying the Artist’s Way” … this grief can be explored here, safely. I welcome Mothers of all kinds. Fathers.

It’s time to release the shame and step into the light of beauty. The Grace of Making. The Beauty of Creating a Life.

May 17th ~ YOGA | DEFEND | DANCE:
Empowering half-day Retreat in Minneapolis ~ NEW! REVISED SCHEDULE! SLIDING SCALE!

May 17th’s epic day retreat is now a half day and offers a sliding scale payment option. Registration ends this Weds, April 30th so we can make sure I have enough people to run the self defense training with Koré at Five Element Martial Arts & Healing Center.

I’ve been shouting about this epic day retreat from the rooftops for a few months - it is a huge dream that popped in and it seemed like so many people were excited about it!

Unfortunately, it is VERY expensive to run and would have needed 15 people signed up to break even (!!!) - wasn’t close to that w/ the registration deadline looming.

THAT SAID ~ let go of the spa and dinner (alas!), revised it to the following schedule w/ a sliding scale. Now the event will go from 2pm to 6:45/7pm - still EPIC!

Revised itinerary ~ Yoga | Defend | Dance: Empowering half-day Retreat 😆

2pm ~ Yoga + Grounding/Protecting Meditation at the gorgeous new Aster House

3:30 - Hop on the hot pink Party Bus for a little dancing warm up (dancing optional but encouraged)

4-6pm Self Defense Training with Sensei Kore Grate at Five Elements Martial Arts + Healing Center

6pm Party Bus dance vibes back to St. Anthony Main with bubbly, Heti (low dose THC herbal beverage) + sparkle water (with other optional drop-off points)

6:45 FINISHED

We could fit in a few party bus stops/drop offs so people could go to other events like Jessa Walters Capricorn Moon Medicine astrology workshop at Yess Yoga or maybe hear the new project Glass by Annie + Kari w/ Favourite Girl + Katy Tessman at the Icehouse … or we could drop you in NE to catch that evening’s Art-a-Whirl shennanigans? Then you could Lyft back to your car near Aster House when your evening concludes. OR roll on back to St. Anthony Main with us. It’s such a lovely neighborhood to explore. You could even go book your own time at Watershed Spa as they’ll open it back up to the public …

It’s been a bummer to let this day retreat dream go in its entirety… However, by shortening it, you can still some of the great happenings around the city that evening AND refresh your self-defense skills with some rad people! I mostly wanted to share self defense training with my community and thought this whole day would be FANTASTIC … Here is a way to do that is less expensive, and still have a party around it.

Join Mary and Tara as they guide you through an evening of reflection and introspection on the auspicious portal of the Winter Solstice. Enjoy an evening of nurturing practices that help quiet the mind and calm your being. Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, has long been celebrated as a time of sacred rest and reflection. It is considered to be the “great stillness” before the sun’s strength builds and the days grow longer.

Yin yoga has a similar energy to that of the Winter Solstice as it relates to the more inward, mysterious, feminine, and passive aspects of our being. Tara will guide you through a gentle and luscious practice of Yin Yoga while Mary serenades you with her siren-like voice, beautiful chants, songs and instrumentation. The experience ends with Tara leading you through the deeply relaxing practice of Yoga Nidra and culminates with more sonic blessings from Mary. Claim the time to enjoy a little slice of heaven for yourself this holiday season. Allow yourself to be immersed in the fruitful darkness from which renewal is born.

No experience necessary, feel free to even come and lay on the floor the whole time if you like, please bring your own mat, blankets and props!

Explore the philosophy, symbols, stories, developmental nature, and practices inspired by seven major Chakras in Yogic philosophy ~ symbolic spinning wheels/vortices of energy located along the central channel of the body alongside the spinal cord. Within each center, we can tap into supportive, nourishing, creative wellsprings that can bring benefit to our lives and the lives of others.

In this introductory series, each class will offer combinations of lecture, movement (yoga asana + other gentle movement), breathwork, meditation, mantra/songs/sound, ritual, intuitive creative practice (doodling, writing, coloring, etc), rest/integration. If time allows, there will be brief opportunity for discussion/connection.

Each practice is an opportunity to offer gratitude to the ancient teachings, all of our teachers past/present/future, and the auspicious quality and privilege for being able to give ourselves this time to study and reflect together.
