There Is A Free Lunch for Lynchburg Firefighters This Week
LYNCHBURG VA — Firefighters are always in the “line of fire” on the front lines. It’s a dangerous job that’s even riskier with COVID-19.
To honor their service and sacrifices, the Mid-State Cares non-profit, in collaboration with Erie Insurance, is delivering free Chick-fil-A meals to all firefighters on all shifts at all eight Lynchburg City stations May 6-8.
“It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all the firefighters and EMTs for putting themselves in harm’s way around the clock, every day and night,” said John Austen S. Basten of Mid-State Cares. “We appreciate you and salute you, especially during these stressful times.”
The Mid-State Cares team is personally delivering the food, purchased with donations through the $2.2 million “ERIE Agents Giving Back” nationwide project launched in April.
“Despite these unprecedented times, humanity and kindness continue to endure and people have stepped up in extraordinary ways to help those in need,” said an Erie representative. “During these challenging times, our employees and agents continue to
go above and beyond to serve customers and support local communities.”
Mid-State Cares is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, allowing it to accept tax-deductible contributions, bequests, transfers and gifts. The community service initiative is affiliated with the Mid-State Group. As a cornerstone, every employee of The Mid-
State Group has 36.5 hours of paid time off a year for community service.
