Federal Contractor Vaccine Mandate Suspended Nationwide! There are 5 COVID-19 Mandates with almost all now suspended by the courts. The Healthcare ETS, OSHA 100 Employee+ ETS, CMS and now the Federal Contractor mandate are all now suspended until the courts decide. If you are an employer in Virginia, the 10-08-21 updated COVID-19 Mandate still applies but is much easier to comply with in comparison to the ones mentioned above. It is not a vaccination mandate and there is no weekly testing requirement. There are some nuances in comparison to the original January 2021 standard. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

This follows a preliminary injunction for three states last week.

Are you a medical facility that accepts Medicare and Medicaid? CMS just released new regulations pertaining to COVID-19 and employee vaccinations. While OSHA finally released their ETS yesterday, it did not have a true employee vaccination mandate but provided an option for weekly employee testing. The CMS regulation is a true vaccination mandate. For more information, I have created a video detailing key takeaways from this 73 page regulation. If you have questions or need guidance, don't hesitate to reach out. We have a staff of highly skilled HR and Safety professionals who understand how to safely guide your company to compliance! Federal OSHA vs VIOSH 16VAC25-220. There is a lot of confusion regarding President Biden's executive order to enforce employers with 100 employees to vaccinate. This mandate has not yet taken effect but it is making its way through the normal process to become part of the active OSHA standard. Here is a brief overview of where OSHA is regarding the process. Please keep in mind that Virginia did make effective in September (same time as Biden announced his OSHA ETS executive order) their updated Permanent COVID-19 standard, 16VAC25-220. This updated safety standard does apply to all businesses operating within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

There Is A Free Lunch for Lynchburg Firefighters This Week

LYNCHBURG VA — Firefighters are always in the “line of fire” on the front lines. It’s a dangerous job that’s even riskier with COVID-19.

To honor their service and sacrifices, the Mid-State Cares non-profit, in collaboration with Erie Insurance, is delivering free Chick-fil-A meals to all firefighters on all shifts at all eight Lynchburg City stations May 6-8.

“It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all the firefighters and EMTs for putting themselves in harm’s way around the clock, every day and night,” said John Austen S. Basten of Mid-State Cares. “We appreciate you and salute you, especially during these stressful times.”

The Mid-State Cares team is personally delivering the food, purchased with donations through the $2.2 million “ERIE Agents Giving Back” nationwide project launched in April.

“Despite these unprecedented times, humanity and kindness continue to endure and people have stepped up in extraordinary ways to help those in need,” said an Erie representative. “During these challenging times, our employees and agents continue to
go above and beyond to serve customers and support local communities.”

Mid-State Cares is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, allowing it to accept tax-deductible contributions, bequests, transfers and gifts. The community service initiative is affiliated with the Mid-State Group. As a cornerstone, every employee of The Mid-
State Group has 36.5 hours of paid time off a year for community service.
