🔵 James Bowen, a homeless he**in addict, quit his addiction because of a stray cat he named (Bob). James found (Bob) injured in 2007 and began caring for him, which gave his life a purpose and aided him in quitting he**in and returning to a normal life. James Bowen wrote a book featuring the cat Bob as the main character. The book made it to the bestseller list and was turned into a film (A Street Cat Named Bob) in which Bob himself appeared. James has written several books starring Bob the cat, and he now works in supporting the needy and homeless, as well as charity work and rescuing street animals.

Hello everyone, My name is Kimberly Melton and I am 50 years old. Let me start by saying that this is my dream to be able to get the word out ablout Lymphedema. I am going to tell you about my story and then explain to you what Lymphedema is.
When I was 18 years old my right leg started swelling but it was not very severe. I went to doctor after doctor and not one of them could tell me what I had. So I just lived with it until I had my third child. Not long after that my right leg began to hurt and alson the right side of my abdominal area, which began to hurt all the time. I went to my GYN Doctor and with many test he found a tumor on the bone and in 4 lymph nodes around the tumor. The doctor called me into his office and said that i need surgery ASAP. So we did the next week. The week after surgery my right leg got so bad with pain and swelling that I became very scared. The doctor did not know what was wrong and said to let himdo some studying on it and for my to come back to his office in one week. it was the longest week I think that I ever waited on. When I went back to his office he told me I have Lymphedema and that there was no cure. At that time, I did not know what Lymphedema was. Over the next four years from 1999 to 2003 I had four more surgeries because of four more tumors that grew in my main organs, none of which was cancer. Praise God. The doctor said that the tumors were fatty tissue tumors. He could not explain to me why i kept having them. Now that I know what it is I want the world to be aware. I am not able to work like I used to or do work around the house, but when i do my right leg gets 3 or 4 times the size it should be, plus a lot of other health problems like Rheumatiod Arthritis, Low Thyroids.
Lymphedema Awareness Day is on March 6th of each year.

Lymphedema remains a poorly understood condition, even within the medical community. It is timeto take our message to the streets and make Lymphedema a household word to ensure that all patients at risk for Lymphedema or living with Lymphedema receives proper and affordable treatment.
