Kids don’t automatically have the words for what they’re feeling.
When we help name emotions, we’re not just calming the moment…
we’re teaching them how to understand themselves.
Instead of “you’re okay,” try:
“I see you’re feeling frustrated.”
“It looks like you’re sad.”
“Are you feeling nervous or excited?”
Over time, those words become tools.
And those tools become confidence.
