Today was a day to celebrate what community can do. La Comida Guild held our General Meeting at Valley Children’s Founder’s Plaza and had the honor of presenting our 2025 fundraising proceeds to the Valley Children’s Guilds’ Endowment in support of the ECMO expansion program. These smiling faces represent countless hours of hard work, and while not all of our members could be with us today, every single one of them is part of making this possible, all for the kids. 💙

How the Guild’s “Co-ordinating Council” was formed…

“…Under the leadership of Mrs.Parke McAvoy, these enthusiasts were organized into Guilds - about 11 of them by the end of 1950. It soon became apparent that a traffic pattern would have to be engineered, to prevent duplication of dates and projects, and so an embryonic co-ordinating council was formed — a group of the vice presidents of each Guild. Mrs. W. A. Crocket became the first chairman of this group, which helped establish guild policies, served as a date clearing house, and hopefully sponsored several fund-raising-events…”

The group officially became the Co-ordinating Council in 1954. Today, the coordinating council chairmanship is a two-year position that rotates alphabetically among the Guilds. The Directors who serve on the Coordinating Council include one representative from each Guild. To this day, the Council continues to govern the Guilds while keeping members informed about the care provided by Valley Children’s.

On Wednesday, February 25th, La Comida Guild attended the Coordinating Council meeting to hear important updates on the State of Valley Children’s. 💙

Founded in 1953, La Comida Guild — meaning “good food” or “meal” — began with monthly food sales and the “Tours of Homes” which has grown into what is now known as the “Holiday Home Tour”. This month, La Comida Guild celebrates 73 years of steadfast commitment to children’s health, continuing the legacy of their founding mothers.

✨ Evening Preview 2025 — What a Night! 🎄

Our guests were treated to an unforgettable evening featuring champagne, priority Boutique shopping, an excellent silent auction, and the finest filet mignon dinner at Fort Washington Country Club.

After dinner, everyone boarded the motos coaches for an exclusive tour of each of our beautifully decorated Christmas homes, lit up at night!🎄✨

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible homeowners, generous patrons, dedicated partners, and amazing sponsors. Your support makes this event truly magical each year. We can’t wait to see you again in 2026!
