We are excited to announce our fifth speaker, Dr. Jeff Snell. Tickets to our February 29th event are still available at http://bit.ly/TedxUWMadison

Jeff Snell believes in social innovation as a powerful tool to solve social problems—the result of his career path, including leading one of the largest youth development organizations in the country and raising $100 million, followed by helping build a private foundation with assets projected at $1 billion, and then working as a university administrator and teacher, receiving the inaugural award for most innovative instructor and selection into the international honor society for Jesuit colleges and universities, and serving as an entrepreneurial mentor for the National Science Foundation’s iCORPS program. His current role at the University of Wisconsin-Madison includes working with faculty and students on their models of social innovation to scale their technology and implement ideas for positive social impact.

He’s also working on designing a social innovation model—something he’d like all of us to consider getting involved with as changemakers—to solve the persistent problem of so few children in the foster care system enrolling in higher education and completing a degree (less than four percent, nationally). He believes we can, and must, do better: either we care for foster kids entering adulthood by investing in more prisons and social programs, or we provide a productive pathway to self-sufficiency, reaping huge benefits that will bring smiles to faces across the vast political and socio-economic spectrum.
