It has been shown that what we do and eat, our life experiences and exposures, and even what we think influence how genes are expressed. You may inherit a gene that puts you at higher risk for a certain medical condition, but you can lessen your chance of getting it through healthy lifestyle habits and routines.

What does men’s health look like outside the doctor’s office?

I had the pleasure of presenting a men’s health and wellness workshop in partnership with Chiroway Chiropractic alongside Aaron. The focus was on practical, science-based strategies men can actually use—stress management, habit change, and preventive health in busy professional lives.

These conversations matter. When men are supported with the right tools and education, it benefits their health, their work, and their families.

Holistic Rest Strategies
Give yourself permission to chill. It’s okay to let go. You don’t need to get it all done today.

You perform at your best when you rest.

Physical Rest looks like getting plenty of sleep and giving your body time to recover.

· Exercise a few days on, one day off. Use gentle stretching or yoga for active rest.
· Give your gut a break with intermittent fasting.
· Spend an afternoon in the hammock reading a book.

Mental Rest means giving your brain the opportunity to tune out.

· Spend time away from solving problems, caring for others, or working.
· Play is an amazing way to get out of your head.

Sensory Rest involves turning off the screens and enjoying the world.
· Non-screen time is almost always better than screen time.
· Use an eye mask and some earplugs during mindfulness to give your senses a rest.

Spiritual Rest, like mindfulness, allows you to be in a state of being, not doing. Create
stillness so you can bask in the divine.

Emotional Rest means having a friend or Nurse Coach who will listen without judgment
and hold space for your feelings without needing to fix you. Experience your emotions fully, and then allow them to pass so you can return to your natural state of happiness and calm.

After all, emotion is simply energy in motion. Finally…

Social Rest means time to be alone. While connecting with others is vital for our health,
sometimes we need to be alone. To not be witnessed. To move around in your own, weird way without having to take care of anyone but yourself.
