These are my two massage cupping sets I currently own & use on clients if applicable. In massage, most if not all techniques or modalities used typically involve downward pressure or compression; cupping brings unique approach as it introduces a vacuum seal on a localized area.
This has a significant and visually different therapeutic effect for the muscle tissue and nervous system as a whole. More study is needed although It’s been theorized to promote a natural anesthesia on painful area’s from the release of endocannabinoids and other neurotransmitters which works best when attempting to restore lost Range of Motion.
A common & rather obvious side effect from cupping is the markings left behind on the area treated; although it should be noted these “bruises” appear & heal differently than your average hematoma caused by blunt force; for example these markings tend to stay uniformly the same color & “flush out” a few days after treatment.
For those curious about trying cupping but are concerned about the aforementioned side effect, just like regular massage cupping can be done “lightly” leaving no potential for markings!
