Maize Mental Health Intervention Team The purpose of the Mental Health Intervention Team is to provide and connect students to mental health support.

This is achieved through three school-based therapists, six behavioral health liaisons, and a partnership with Comcare of Sedgwick County.

The holidays can make it tempting to put everyone else first. This is your reminder that caring for yourself matters, too. You don’t have to please everyone to be worthy of rest, care, and compassion.

Both are normal.
It’s okay to have hard days.

Feeling overwhelmed by worries? The Worry Tree is a simple tool to help you sort through them and take back some calm.

Here’s how it works:
🍃 Is this something I can control?
• Yes → Take action. What’s one small step you can do right now?
• No → Let it go. Park that worry and shift your focus.

🌱 Try connecting with a safe, trusted person or doing something that helps distract and calm your mind.

Remember: not every worry needs your attention. It’s okay to pause, breathe, and choose what you give your energy to. 💚

🍁 We hope you have a wonderful Fall Break! 🍁
Here are 6–7 ways to practice self-care while you’re recharging this week:

1. Get outside
Take a walk, enjoy the crisp fall air, or sit in the sunshine for a few minutes.

2. Unplug from screens
Give yourself a break from constant notifications and scrolling.

3. Rest intentionally
Sleep in, take a nap, or simply slow your pace.

4. Do something creative
Draw, bake, craft, journal—whatever helps you reset.

5. Connect with someone you care about
A quick call or meet-up can lift your mood.

6. Move your body
Stretch, take a yoga class, or go for a light workout.

7. Treat yourself kindly
Speak to yourself with compassion. Your mental health matters.

💛 Spreading Positivity at Maize High School! 💛

As part of today’s service day, our Maize High School Behavioral Health Liaison led a group of students who created a Positivity Wall filled with uplifting notes to encourage others and brighten someone’s day! 🌟

Take a moment to spread some kindness of your own — send a quick text to a friend or family member and let them know what you love about them. A few positive words can go a long way! 💬❤️

💙 Men’s Mental Health Matters 💙
There’s real strength in vulnerability. It’s okay to not be okay.

Let’s get rid of “man up” and start saying speak up instead. Creating safe spaces where men can open up, talk about what’s really going on, and know they’re not alone is so important.

Check in with the men in your life — sometimes a simple “How are you really doing?” can mean more than you know.

🖋️📕Day [3]: Start a gratitude journal
Taking a few minutes each day to write down what you’re thankful for can help reduce stress and improve your overall mental well-being. Focus on simple things—a smile from someone, a moment of calm, or something that made you laugh today. 💛
