Get to know me

🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m Carmen born and raised in the Florida Keys, I lived in Miami for 13 years and then Tennessee for 4. I’m now I’m Centra PA.

👶🏽 I gave birth 10 weeks ago and I’m back to attending births. I start attending 14 years ago after the birth of my first daughter.

🪄 When I was pregnant with my first daughter I knew I wanted something diffferent I just didn’t know how I was going to make that happen. I discovered a world I had only dreamed of. That opened the door. Then in February 2022 at 10 weeks I had a miscarriage and it changed me. I now specialize in pregnancy after loss (our rainbow babies). My children inspire me but knowing there are other women like me are suffering in silence. I am them and they are me.

✨ I will always want to learn more but right now I’m working on learning more about our hormones and miscarriages. I’m tired of hearing providers tell women that it just happens. We deserve answers. We deserve support.

A Side of Crunchy was created by Carmen who is a doula, birthkeeper and placenta specialist in Clarksville, Tennessee offering birth services to the Middle Tennessee community.

On A Side of Crunchy, you’ll find resources and blog post on pregnancy, birth, crunchy parenting. You will also be able to follow my unassisted pregnancy and birth story and our families journey homeschooling.
